Louise. That's great, thanks for the measurements :)

Not sure I'll get anything done today, think I have a migraine coming on :( Yesterday I thought I'd do some backstitching so I can roll the design up to work on the lower half. I dithered for a while as there is soooo much of it but once I got going it wasn't as bad as it first seemed.
Was a little annoyed that one of the frixion highlighters has nearly run out of ink already! Having thought about it I guess highlighters aren't meant for 'colouring in' so my own fault really :o
I used a frixion rollerball to mark the backstitch lines and I much prefer them to the highlighters.
Those of you that have the frixion rollerballs can you tell me how to take them apart to put in a new refill? I have a pink and a red one and for the life of me can't work out how to get them apart and the refills are much cheaper than buying a whole new pen.

Louise, thank you. its so hard to know what to do to support my brother and his partner. nothing i can do really apart from be here if they need me.
got up early cos couldnt sleep have finished half of titanic top half of next bit isnt very busy so that shouldnt take long -lotss of blank not stitched areas in the sky and what is stitched is mostly 1/2 cross stitch. tempted to do that quarter next.

Really easy, take off lid and just unscrew the bottom of the pen (before the swirls start) from the rest of the pen (the swirly patterned bit).

How on earth did you run out of ink. I used the highlighter (currently running out) for months at uni before discovering stitchyness. :p

Hello everyone else. Have got some stitchy mojo back now :) I've finsihed my second lil charity bird and plan to start on the christening one next which has confetti (I call it satellite due to blood pattern analysis - can tell I was on a CSI course) and lots of backstitch and small dashes and long lines. Still trying to figure out how those are done. It's very nice to be home again :)

P.s was so not going to look at the sale, but then clicked on designs others mentioned and now trying not to look, I have enough future projects and no where near HAED skill level. Still trying to get head around Hardanger.

Thanks for the info, silly me just wasn't unscrewing hard enough :D I thought that's where it came apart but for the life of me it wouldn't budge this morning. Have just tried again and got it apart which is great because the refills are much cheaper than buying whole new pens.

As for the highlighter, I have no idea why it's running out so soon. Maybe it's a duff one? It's currently standing on it's end in the hope that any remaining ink will run into the tip :o
Here's a pic of how much use I have had from it,

the lady who gave me advice on using highlighters said to photocopy the pattern and maark the photocopy so your orginal is still clean, she also said she uses a different coloured felt pen each day so she knows where she is from day to day and how much shes doing.
i cant believe how much better ive got on since restarting titanic using the highlighting method all ive done to my adia this time is stitch a couple of lines of white cotton across it to mark the centre ive not used any other marking on the fabric

Well, I picked up Cross Stitcher this morning and after a quick flick through, I am not impressed.

Free gift - always handy to have another pair of scissors as mine often wander off

Top of the class badges - look too messy for me

Carnival - colours don't seem to go together or that may just be me

Caravan cushion - nice. If my parents still had their 'van, I might have stitched this

    Beetle - yuck!!

Animal magic - not sure about these.

Safe as houses - might use them as individual elements rather than the complete image shown

Country kitchen - too pale for me

Scrabble tiles - might be useful for something but wouldn't make necklaces from them as shown in the magazine!!!

School motifs - might be useful for my craft fair items

Peacock feather in linen - not for me

Leaves - might be useful I suppose

At least no adverts for bras, stairlifts or plants in this magazine.

Looks like I wil lbe selling this one on and next month's looks even worse.

    Hello everyone

First of all I just want to say that I am sorry for your loss Mrs MP :(

I've finished another page of forest walk, so I can now post a pic of the progress I've made as it's been quite a while since the last one.

I'm still stitching another piece when I'm at work and I'm 3/4 of the way there so I'll post a picture of that when its finished.

I would write more but someone mentioned something about 50% off HAED so I am now going to spend much of the evening deciding which one(s) I'm going to buy on my very long wish list ;)

    Have a good evening

Elle that looks simply stunning,it looks more like a photograph than a crossstitch the colour blends and detail are so great.

Ellie - your design is coming along nicely. I agree it looks like a painting or photo rather that a cross stitch.

I have had a look at the HAED sale and the chart I wanted isn't in the sale. It's this one http://heavenandearthdesigns.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=456&products_id=9252 Not sure why it's not included. Never mind it must be a warning that I don't need it :D
