Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum but just wanted to introduce myself. I'm currently living in the Tropics (accompanied husband as we had to move for his job :0{) with our new baby. I have so many UFOs I think I can admit to 5 that I have brought with me (and can't even remember how many I have left in storage in the UK - very shaming really). I have promised myself that I will finish them before buying anymore kits/materials (but I am still getting the magazines used, and cheaper than an overseas subscription, off ebay to keep my eye in!). I am in awe of you all as you seem to accomplish so much more in one day than I can manage in a week. Here's hoping I get a wiggle on as there's so many new projects I want to start but daren't until I clear the decks!MrsF

    good luck keiss

    helllo MrsF49.

    ohhh girlies..... helpppp.

I have a 'life book' this year (am sure some of you know what they are from the other threads) but is basically a hardbacked diary (spiral bound) with sections for diary, monthly plan, finances and notes). I find it farrrr to bulky and was thinking if I got a small filofax it'd do the same job (with appropriate inserts) and i'd only need to replace bits as they expired/ run out. instead of this one where i really only use the notes once a month and mainly have it for the diary element.

    So:
    - Is an A5 filofax ok?? what size do you suggest? which size is too small to be useful??
    - is there a 'non' branded version?? (ohh may have answered my own question linky, linky..... will it take general inserts??)

My theory is if I get it in July they all seem to be cheaper (half price in WHSMITH) then all i need to buy is a 2013 diary insert. :money:
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:

beg. Love the IT crowd pic, that gets said a lot in our house :D
Also like the Sleeping Beauty you have ordered, look forward to progress pics of her.

Elle. Sorry to read about the loss of your Mum. Hope you are looking after yourself and hope work gets better.

MrsF. Hi and welcome to the cafe!

I'm sure I have seen filofax copies in my local poundshop type shops. Admittedly not looked at them close enough to know if they will take general inserts so I'm probably not much help :(
:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:

WHSmith does some that are Filofax clones and take either filofax pages or their own. I find the "personal" size best for me but I know a friend finds the smaller one just fine (Personal is about 7.5"x5"x1" - smaller one is about half to two thirds that size)

Managed to crochet yesterday! got two small bits of my sweater done, one more small bit and then I start to join them together and work up the body :D
Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup :D

Don't think it looks too bad considering it was a free chart, aida and threads I had in and the frame came from the £shop. :j:j

Will get it up on the wall for DS before he comes in today. He used to work in IT support so I'm sure he will appreciate it.

    Take care everyone,

PS Will pop back later to let you know which kit I have decided on for next big project - still at the dilly dallying stage.

    Looks brilliant; frame is perfect
  • I have decided and ordered Sleeping Beauty but not of the Disney variety. Will just have to sit back and wait for it to arrive now.

Wow - this will be stunning. I know it's a painting but I can't remember the artist Does anyone know?
  • BEG I can't see the picture :(

Thanks for you help chicky I was thinking 4 possibly 5 pictures on a blanket, but now I'm thinking proper patchwork, one square cross stitch one square material. Now need to find loads of little fairy patterns! Good job I need to finish my started project and have the next one lined up so gives me lots of time to find them!

This is a lovely idea. Have you thought about using precut squares of fabric to make it easier (they come in 5 inch or 10 inch squares)? Another time saving idea that I have used is to back the quilt front with fleece and add a few buttons instead of having to use wadding, backing fabric and then quilting the whole thing. Though of course you can't use buttons for tinies.
