It is supposed to look "blotchy" as my DH described it when I showed it to him. It is literally dyed with tea (you can also use coffee) I don't have enough confidence to try with proper dyes

It's a pattern and the embroidery is traced onto the fabric then stitched - it's only backstitch and satin stitch so very simple

its very similar to a piece my DD did for her exam she felted a panel and embellished it with felted flowers embrodery buttons and little bees.
