mrs-mp. Nice progress.
My progress update,
I think this is the last pic you saw,
and this is today,
The stitches to the left are as far as it goes so I'm on the home stretch. Though I'll probably still be on the home stretch in a few weeks:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -

Has anyone tried to dye their own fabric? any success
am Newton looks great
aneres its coming along
Not sure if you really mean that you won't be able to tell what fabric you have. Linen has slubs in the fabric while jobelan is completely smooth. I don't know of any way to tell the count of a fabric other than by counting the holes or threads over an inch (easier to do under a magnifier I find). And speaking from experience don't forget to label the fabric once you have done the counting (how many times have I forgotten to do this )
The only type of dyeing I have done is tea dyeing of calico and cotton for applique or stitchery projects - this is an example

It is supposed to look "blotchy" as my DH described it when I showed it to him. It is literally dyed with tea (you can also use coffee) I don't have enough confidence to try with proper dyes0 -

Thanks - actually it isn't a bag. It's called a couch companion as it is designed to fall over the arm of a chair or couch when opened and it is for stitching accessories - the middle bit is a pincushion and the pockets hold packets of needles, thread, scissors etc.

Just popped on to say that its arrived. :j :jOOoo they look fab. I know that its not a great picture to bring out the colours, but I was that excited that I took the pic in a dark room. There are five altogether. Two pink ish shades, two green ish shades and a lilac colour one. They are also very soft to touch.cross stitch cafe #90 UFO's 6 to finish in 2013, and loads of new kits to boot

augustsmummy - Newton is very cute
catwoman - I will be very surprised if you don't fall in love with the Polstitches fabric
aneres - already this piece looks stunning; hope you manage to fit in lots of stitching this week
mrs moneypenny - great progress on titanic
Louise - that RM sampler is fabulous I love the way the lettering is in the RM style. Was it a chart or a kit or from a magazine? I'm sure it would be worth unpicking and using for something else though probably not suitable for someone in the family who knows the history
chickywiggle - princess palace is really coming along; appreciate what you are saying about unpicking as I had to do some of that on my cushion due to stitching and chatting at the same time and because it is a symmetrical design there was no way I could just leave it
Polstitches fabric is fabulous but there are other companies out there that do hand dyed fabric Here is one I have used (The Crafty Kitten) and she does aida as well as evenweave. Beware you may like her fabric of the month for May
nykied - thanks for the recommendation on poly pockets from Morrisons
shelly - love your tiger
FlatEric - finally managed to look through Cross Stitcher late on Sunday night (it arrived Friday). There are a few designs I like though nothing screamed "stitch me now". However my main thought was "I could make that quicker and easier with fabric applique" - for example the deer on the front cover, the circular cushion, the sunshine bag are to me designs that should be sewn not cross stitched (and would take a fraction of the time)0 -

You are bad. Stop it. I don't need anymore temptation. I won't look.
Oh, I did look. It's all pretty, and I want it.... Grr!0 -
Hi everyone,
Thought I'd pop in and say hello. Love all the new pics. Too Pooped looks fantastic. I remember framing my Dictionary Of Bras and cutting my fingers several times. All you're worried about is not getting blood on your stitching! LOL!
I'm a huge fan of hand dyed fabric too. I have quite a lot of Polstitches fabric and some gorgeous pieces from Silkweavers.
My mum always railroads/tramlines her stitching. She marvels at how neat I stitch and thought I must be doing it, but I never bother. I think I'm probably just neat as I stitch quite slowly.
Blossom is sat with me, watching me type. She LOVES the PC and when it gets switched on, she leaps up onto the computer desk to join me. Sometimes she tries to climb on the keyboard, which doesn't help much. Oh, she just stepped down to sniff my fingers.
I am hoping to stitch some more of my LK 'Good Marriage' today. I did a little bit more at the cross stitch meet on Friday. Still got about 1/4 to stitch though. Might need to get DH to play with Blossom whilst I get on with stitching in another room.Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27
