blue_eyed_girl was your owl a kit? If so, where did you get it from if you don't mind me asking? I keep looking at him, he's so cute lol!
Hi HP - I actually got him while I was on holiday in Edinburgh but I think this one is the same. It was fairly easy to do and looks quite effective. Love your Mum's card and look forward to seeing your progess on the sampler.
Hope youre feeling better nykied - it sounds as though you have had a rough time.
The blackwork isn't difficult to do catwoman - it is really just like doing backstitch in a way.
Like the idea of the interfacing Louise. At the risk of sounding really stoopid, I take it you do the interfacing thing after stitching. As ive never been blonde it must be a bit of a senior moment going on :rotfl::rotfl:
Well done on the Chat Noir keepcalmanddrinktea. Looking forward to seeing any piccies.
No stitching done here at all today.

Maria - you are very brave (or very silly) having that football party..... good luck.
Watched Prison Break when it was first on (addictive viewing) !!
Nykied - hope you're feeling better.
Watching that history of the musicals programme that was on the other day - tis brill.... up to Oh What a Lovely War which reminds me of GCSE Drama cause I had to do that play for my final piece.I can still sing most of the words to silent night in German (not bad for a 13yr old memory!!)

Love it, thank you! Am going to treat myself to this. You lot are a bad influence, I used to just have the kit I was doing at the time but now I've got loads in the cupboard waiting to be done! :rotfl:Slimming World Target Achieved 13/09/12!0 -
Wow - I have the exact same cute owl in my collection to do - have seen him at Harrogate show for the last few years and finally bought him in November. Might have to re-arrange the list I wrote so I can sew it sooner.Mortgage £119,533 going down slowly

The smaller one has done me just fine....I'm also using it for a 3ft wide HAED, I just fold and pin the excess fabric at the sides.blue_eyed_girl wrote: »

Once it's all washed and ironed you can get the interfacing on
It really firms up the fabric - I use it for backing coasters and bookmarks usually, and you can do a couple of layers if needs be, just allow the first layer to cool first.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. Hello All,
Well what a day I have had, I am currently ill in bed and decided to google cross stitch forum, and up came MSE. I usually lurk on Old Style but lo and behold I have been lured onto this thread and have not stopped reading all day - literally I am on Pg 234 of The 2010 cafe.
Before I sound any madder.....
I don't work due to various medical conditions I was becoming bored and depressed because I was so bored and this year remembered about xs again, after loving it as a child but losing all interest once I hit my mid teens. I foung a kit in Home Bargains and altough it was the most hideous thing I have ever seen I sewwd it up and enjoyed the process! Then as a surprise my husband ordered me some threads and aida off ebay, I found a cheap make your own sampler book, and got Cath Kidson Stitch for my birthday. Since then I have been designing away and even comig up with some of my own designs, but now I am stuck.
Money is very tight since I am on benefits, can't drive and need physio - which is not provided by NHS so we spend a lot of money on taxis to get there etc etc, the usual sob story... ha ha. Anyhoooo as I lie here unable to stitch for a few days I thought I would plan what I want to make this year and my main aim is to do a ballerina picture for a very close family friend. My problem is I can't find a decent one that isn't a kit - because I have so much aida and threads (and due to you lovely ladies know where to get more replacement threads cheaply) I really want a chart only (and as reasonably priced as possible)
I have seen a few free charts but all are very little girl or teddy cutsie designs which I know my firend would hate, I would like to try a design with class and maybe quite a bit of detail. But at the moment and after a day searching yest I am drawing a blank. Would any of you be able to point me in the right direction?????
Maria could you please send me the promo code for the 5 mags for £5?
Right I am away to catch up with you all back in 2010 (in my defence I have been bedbound and alone for a few days, I am not a crazy insomniac - well not that much)

I only have two that I can think of
The Passion of Dance which has been a UFO of mine for..er...*cough*...a while....:o
And the Swan Queen which I completed a few months ago, less than a week to stitch..... total rigmarole getting a hold of the chart, you will probably find that story midway through reading 2011 cafe stuff :rotfl:
In fact I 'm thinking my 2012 resolution should now be to complete The Passion of Dance.....:DCross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. *Louise*
The Passion of the Dance is exactley what I had in mind, graceful, elegant, the opposite of me
Thank you so much for your help, now I have a name I may be able to find a chart a quick google is giving me kits only but I might phone a few places tomorrow and see if they could provide a chart only.
