    Hi Ladies,

Sorry to gatecrash but I'd like to pick your collective brains if that's ok. My lovely friend had a beautiful little girl yesterday, and I've spent the last 7 months making a sampler for the baby. It's been a real labour of love (don't think I'll be doing much cross stitch in the near future I'm afraid) and I want to finish it properly.

I was wondering if anyone could advise on framing? The detail is about A5 size if that's important. I know this is MSE (:money:), but I don't want to ruin it at the last minute with my dodgy handwork! Do most people get theirs framed, and can anyone point me in the right direction please?

    Thanks very much

    Sarah :)

PS - sorry if you get this question all the time, for some reason my search function isn't working
  • Evening all, and hello Sarah I can't post you a linky because I'm on my phone, but Google framing cross stitch and you will get lots of guides, its not easy but it is cheaper, I would say if you are going to do it yourself take your time,

started dictionary of cakes and it is coming together really nicely will post piccies later

in other news dreeding Saturday, my sons 8th birthday party 27 boys playing football!

has anyone watched prison break coming to the end of the last series and I'm quite upset :( much better than I thought it would be!

hope everyone is having a good bank holiday

    morning all
another new year to stitch through:beer:, ive not had the puter on for a few days as ive been so engrosed in my gorguss girl, im doing the shadow part at the bottom now and have made a mistake, ive done the centre of the shadow ie the darkest bit in full cross stitches instead of just halves:mad: was so busy sewing away i just looked at the pattern shape and didnt think to wonder why it was set in a darker square, its staying as a full cross stitch as ill make a right pigsear if i try and unpick it, i should finish the outer pale shadow today as im now working in halves as instructed then on to the dreaded backstitching

hope everyone has a good stitchy day

i love the photos posted so far in this thread

  • Morning all, sorry to sound really dumb but I see some of you mentioned "HAED" what does that mean?

Next time I will be brave enough to try it on evenweave.:D

Think I will start on a tulip kit I have as springtime is just around the corner (but listening to the wind and rain bashing against the window perhaps not).

Oh nearly forgot to say Cross Stitch Card shop arrived today with a little Margaret Sherry free gift. :j

Hi little_sarah - I find double sided tape quite useful when framing especially on the smaller pieces. I have done a couple of larger pieces that have been 'laced' on back to hold material nice and secure. I also think using a double mount can make a picture look a little bit more special especially when you are giving it as a gift. I'm sure there will be some how to videos online which may be helpful to you. Good luck and hope you haven't been put off cross stitching for too long. :D

Well im off now to sort out my next project.
