I am going to sew the elephants for dh for Valentines day. Lots of block stitching so should be ok and thinking of doing them in variegated thread but not fully decided yet as I have never used it before.
variegated thread is cool! I usually (when my brain doesn't switch off) try to complete each stitch in its entirety rather than work a row and then go back to complete the stitch.

this is something I stitched with variegated

Ah, thank you so much FE, how to complete the stitches was one of my main questions about using this. I was planning on trying both ways on a bit of spare aida to see which one I prefer for this design. I don't think my threads are as interesting as yours though, they are just varying shades of one colour.
I'd forgotten how much I liked this bookmark when you first posted it, its great

Found you tonight and after sorting all my sewing and prioritising unfinished projects would love to join the thread. Have an unfinished map of Jeddah for my mum and step-dad (they lived there for years), will aim to finish by April (much earlier hopefully) and post it in time for their wedding anniversary. Happy new year x

My rubbish Christmas gift from MIL was cookery books?! She is well aware that I am having stomach surgery, and possibly a total removal of my stomach in 2012, and she got me cookery books...
Worse still I can't use one of them at all as it is for curry, and I can't eat anything spicy as it burns my tummy :(.
Dh can't see why I am feeling a bit down with them, when I put so much thought in to gifts for all the in-laws. Ah well.

Even better, MIL said that next year she would like a cross stitched alphabet sampler from me as I like sewing. Erm, you know I like sewing so you bought me cook books.....

If I didn't laugh I would cry :rotfl:.

The best gift though was a bracelet from my best friends, we said no gifts, but they posted it to me as a sneaky surprise :).

Well no stitching done here, but hopefully I will manage it a bit later!

    23rd that box is lovely!

    AMx

Hmm I got given an umbrella by a member of Dr Dragon's family (I am stuck on crutches, will always be stuck on crutches! :o), we had agreed before hand that we would exchange vouchers/cash unless you ask for something specific (she did and got it, she got our gifts from her company "get this for 10p" section )

To make up for it though a very good friend got me a yarn winder
Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup :D
