    Hi ladies, welcome newbies :j
dorastar, this is the first gorguss kit ive ever done and i found the looped method funny to start with but the back of my work looks so mch neater.

Completely agree about looped method making the back so much neater. I also find that because I am folding a length in half instead of using 2 lengths that I get much less knots.

I am now looking for a gift bookmark. My adopted Nan has coo ed over all my cross stitch lately so I want to do something for her and as an avid reader I have decided on a book mark. Now I am down to these four but I don't know which to choose. She is about 65ish and although I love the FF designs I think she would prefer the MP one, anyone got any opinions?

    FF personalised
    FF daisy
    MP vase of flowers
    Blue tits

    Many thanks :D

My favs are both the MP and the blue tits :D

Here's wishing you all a Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to all of you.

On Boxing day I treated myself to the CraftSeller magazine subscription, thinking I might try Etsy and see if I can sell things if I lose my job next month.

Well, this morning the free gift, a craft caddy, arrived. Now that really is good service. The caddy is really good quality and probably worth most of the subscription cost(£9.99 quarterly). And I am really only replacing my dreadful Cross Stitcher subscription which thankfully ends next month.

For anyone else facing the same situation I would recommend a look. The leaflet about the caddy offer was in the last World Of Cross Stitch magazine (subs copy) so keep an eye out for it if you are interested

I may well have a lot more time to post in the new year and will be greatful for any support or inspriation you can spare.

Thanks to all the girls in the Cross Stitch Cafe! You're all fantastic! :A
  • Dora, I am with you I didn't like my gorjuss design, mostly because the thread had no numbers so I can't redo the design. But it did come together very fast so that was a positive. Its now a ufo as I have to do all the backstitch  I am not looking forward to finishing that.

I think I have made a boo boo on my dragon :o I think the second page has slipped and I have stitched it one line too much up iyswim. I have done so much that I really don't want to unpick it and I have no copy of the chart so can't redo it as its been marked with pen. So I am going to finish page one and two and see what happens. If it is one line out I will do ther remaining pages and fill in the line to make it look 'ok'. If it looks awful I will prob have to reorder the kit

CSandL I love the smell of the biscuit factories, the only trouble is everytime I can smell the one near me it rains must be the way the wind blows.

Hope everyone has a good new year whatever you are doing, going to bed early, working, or enjoying yourselves.

Need to do some stitching today at some point.

Does anyone know of any websites that offer a free copy of stitch a photo or something like that?

The new pictures of everyones work looks lovely.

I had WOXS this morning too. I'm waiting for Cross Stitch Card Shop but don't think this will come until its almost due out in the shops (5 Jan) :( and its a new subscription so I'm hopeful I will get the January issue as it comes with a free Margaret Sherry Kit :j

What did you get from Sew and So ? I keep looking at their sale pages ....
  • I'm another one having a quiet NYE in the house, stitching hopefully if I can get the girls to bed early!
Today I have ordered 200 threads from Across Town Stitching, the joys of having birthday and Christmas money to spend...yay. Even better, I thought I was pushing it leaving it unitl the 31st December, but she still let me have the 15% discount, so they came in around 24 pence per thread. I cannot believe how fast she manages to reply to emails being as busy as she is, I emailed her about the 15% and within minutes she had replied and refunded the difference, amazing!

I also ordered this http://www.sewandso.co.uk/Products/Winnies-Numbers__ROY-9886443-00021.aspx from ebay as it was cheaper and free postage. It is for my sister who is due to have a baby in March, I might get it finished for his/her 1st birthday. :p I like this one because I will be able to split each number up for birthday cards etc.
Plus some thread heaven. I have done well today, especially as I am also thinking of ordering some Winnie Pooh chart booklets from the sew and so sale too.

I am hoping to spend time on my tiger tonight as I think I will be spending the next couple of weeks winding threads onto bobbins!

Hope everyone has a great evening, whatever they are doing, and a brilliant 2012.

PM - Love those christmas charts

  • Oh I forgot, I also got the new WOXS today and I am going to sew the elephants for dh for Valentines day. Lots of block stitching so should be ok and thinking of doing them in variegated thread but not fully decided yet as I have never used it before.

I am another one hoping the Cross Stitch Card shop lands through the door before the 5th but I doubt it.

PAP - I prefer the MP bookmark but like the blue tits too.
