Katyliz - my sky is supposed to be whole stitches but I left it at half. I prefer it as I think it gives a 'cloudy' effect.
WOW ! looking good- what colour frame are you going to use ??

So my cross stitch holiday ended yesterday
:(:( but I still have the lovely weekend to make use of and stitch some more :T
Roll on Easter and the late may bank holiday/queen's diamond jubilee :T
I feelthat I didn't manage more stitching but I am pleased with my cat coaster and have completed one easter card with another almost finished (pic below). Now this is where I would be interested to hear your views.
One of my work colleagues is running the London Marathon - now because he didn't get his place and instead has a charity place, he has to raise a fair few quid for said charity and we have had the odd fund raising thing to help him on his way. So do you think my cards would be a suitable item to take into work and sell to help raise some extra cash? Now firstly, I am not sure if I can even sell them? I would not be profiting from the sale, my time, materials etc, would all be given for free but what is the official take on stitching charts from magazines to then sell on (albeit for charity?) is this allowed?
Secondly how much should I sell them for ? Easter cards, well you can pick them up quite cheaply in card shops - pack of 5 say for a pound something ? so I doubt people would want to pay much ? but of course a nice handmade card is far better than a shop bought produced in its thousands....
Would be interested to hear your views.
The designs probably take me a few hours each and to be honest, I don't notice the time as I get so engrossed but its not about that, I enjoy doing it and if it could help raise some extra cash for a worthy cause then well, I'm happy.
Finally, I have to be honest and say I have been a bit lazy (certainly with the chick card), carrying thread across the aida where I normally wouldn't and I suspect if I decide to start making cards to sell on for charity purposes then I would take more care but to make the cards look that extra special, what finishing touches would you suggest and where is the best place to get those card bag type things to display them in ??

Some fabulous work and great progress been posted recently. Troutbeck looks amazing finished
In looking out WOCS magazine that brednall asked about I started looking through some of the other magazines (the way you do) for inspiration for next projects. I've started Sophie's Stocking but I like to have more than one project on the go at the same time. I saw an ad for a cross stitch and ribbon embroidery kit and had to have a look on sewandso. I adore it apart from it being on aida (I would swap the fabric for evenweave which makes it an expensive buy). I love ribbon embroidery and the colours are gorgeous. I also saw the latest of the John Clayton ladies and fell in love with her as well. Then I have this sampler in my stash which I like the idea of doing on hand dyed linen with hand dyed variegated thread. And one of the other WOCS mags has a lovely Sara Moon design which I love. And last but by no means least I would still like to stitch the Keep Calm and Cross Stitch design from Cross Stitcher magazine not to mention the Diamond Jubilee cushion in this month's Cross Stitcher. Decisions decisions...:rotfl:0 -

Hi ladies.
Nothing much to say except everyone's progress and finishes are great! Not much stitching done here this week but hope to get some done this weekend.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
chicky I'm sure Troutbeck will look amazing in a pine frame. Looking forward to seeing it. And I agree that the half crosses for the sky add to the effect.
KatyLiz my vote would have been for leaving the half stitches alone but you've already been persuaded I think:)
PP Love the flowers and the colours of them
FlatEric I think some of the magazines have guidelines on selling your work using their designs. You can't compare cheap bought cards with hand made ones and I think you could charge a bit more because of the charity element. I don't know if this site is the cheapest for card bags but they have been going for years and have a great selection of everything to do with card making. Your Easter card is really cute.
Louise amazing progress as ever
Hope everyone has a happy stitchy weekend - part of mine will be stitching in front of the TV tomorrow while Dad and DH are watching the footy. Hope it's not too exciting so that I can get on with stitching and just listen to the commentary0
