Welcoem to the cafe Smiley, love your name. Your project looks good. Please keep us updated
This morning at 3hr 35min...
Now, done at 5hr 35min...
If you look close enough and you have the kit/magazine you can see my mistake. Also the backstitch isn't 100% correct but its unique and I do love the design
Now back to London tomorrow night :j0 -
kezbabybabe wrote: »*Louise* That's amazing work! I've just seen it on the FB page! I am nowhere near that many projects completed! Still struggling to get my mum's heirloom quilt done.
However I've been sorting out my photos that have got in a bit of a mess and it has reminded me how many pieces of stitching I have done.
In fact I need to update my sig:
It's 43 squares of 90 completed for the Knitting Throw and can be seen here so far:
http://flic.kr/s/aHsjtzdzS2
I have done 4 out of 8 squares for the heirloom quilt with half the large square in the middle done. It's very slow going, mostly because I don't spend the time to do it and it's on linen which is much slower than aida.
Love the knitting squares -it will make a wonderful throw when finished. Hope you can share some of your photos of your finished stitchings with us - I love seeing what others have done0 -
I like the free kit and for a change, the materials supplied seem ok unlike last month (free koala kit) when I had squashed eyes
I like the idea of stitching on soluble canvas. Not 100% keen on the design so may use the soluble canvas and stitch something else :T
I quite like the design and needlecases are always useful both to use and as gifts
I like the Bug's Life gameboard - and I love those little ladybirds! Thats quite a clever idea.
I guess you could stitch the design and fit it in a coaster (hopefully?) and then you would have a firm gameboard for your ladybird and bee pieces.
I agree it's a neat idea. Making it on plastic canvas so that it could be used outside really appeals
The cupcakes are ok but not as nice as the cakes in another stitching mag I have seen recently (can't remember which one?)
Think it may have been WOCS and I agree they were nicer
I do like the cushion buts it not something i would stitch! I'm also not really into royal memorabilia and never in a million years would I be able to produce such a perfect show piece as is featured in the picture!
This remains the one I am most likely to stitch
I also like the competition WOW!
Absolutely - what a fabulous selection of prizes
The small easter designswould be great if they did a similar xmas themed one so you could make xmas gift tags :T Not really sure what the obsession is with buttons though ??
Not really my sort of thing
The Guess how much I love you design is sweet but i have seen this before and its not something I would stitch.
I like this because I love the book
I also like the photo of the Keep Calm and Cross Design that someone has stitched on the letters page - the different colours used are really effective
I have this design on my to do list and am now thinking that I may try other colours
I do like the seed packets but doubt it would be something I would stitch. Too much else to do!
The patchwork pals are also sweet.
and I like the China Blue sampler too. But I don't think (if I stitched it) that I would use the thread indicated.
The teacups are also sweet!
I like these but they haven't made it to the to do list
I also like the scarf featured in the Simply Knitting advert - I'm wondering if i have this mag (took out a subscription with tesco points) not sure if have had that mag as subscription about to finish.
In summary, lots I like just not sure how much I will get round to doing!
Just too many projects and not enough time0 -
Flower of Scotland, Santa's List is actually called Dear Santa! My bad, I've got another project called Santa's List, got them muddled up!
The design is by D Morgan and I got it from Santa's Great Book by Leisure Arts. If you want alet me know!
I definitely agree with this! And I too prefer the look of evenweave if there is a lot of fabric showing around the design.
Durham Cathedral is a Heritage Design too and it has tons of half stitches!
Hope everyone's having a lovely day xx
Thanks for the information Skoobie I thought the style of the lettering looked familiar but I couldn't place it. Now you have said it is by D Morgan I remembered that years ago I stitched the Footprints poem for my MIL and D Morgan was the designer. Even the layout was similar.
Your Durham Cathedral is fabulous.0 -

BEG, thanks I prefer working on clearer charts now so thats good news. So sorry to hear about you BILHope all the family are ok though.
Eric, lol ok not so ahead then maybe behindIts nice though to do things without having to rush them they give you time to relax/enjoy stitching them.
You found us Al :rotfl: Now you can see how I am doing with London, best step it up a gear now I am being watchedI am banned from your site, I told you that before. I have London, Alice and now Letting Go all to do from you. Doesn't stop me wanting to do lots of other charts you have! Will prob get the kit on Tuesday now as I am training at new job Monday. All good though
So far I have completed 40min backsticth on fizzy moon I am determind to finish it tonight. Sadly I had to go to work earlier so no all day weekend stitch this weekend
Fizzy Moon is looking good
If you would like to try evenweave PM your address and I'll send you a piece. Let me know what size the rose design is that you want to do first.0 -
Hello ladies, could I join you please? I was around for a bit in an earlier cafe but couldn't keep up :rotfl:I'm usually found in the tougher thread on the OS board.
I am very impressed with all your work. But Louise - you must have bionic fingers!!! I'm sure if you send it in to WOCS you'll end up as their stitching genius and win yourself another kit you can do in super-fast time!
I am starting this: http://www.cross-stitch-corner.co.uk/christmas-moonlight---maia---thomas-kinkade-124-p.asp
Hopefully it will be done for Christmas as a gift for my sister. The kit I had contained a chart with lots of mistakes on, so Maia have sent me the correct chart, but I've had to wait three days for it. I'm just going to do an hour or so now before bed. I imagine I might need a few kicks up the wotsit to get it done once the initial honeymoon phase has worn off :rotfl:
Welcome SmileyT That kit is amazing. You have come to the right place for encouragement to keep going0 -
Must have finished about the same time
Now got the moneter bookmarks to do from same magazine and and ice cream one to go with the card. (I will finish the other MP bookmark soon)
Think Im going to do backstitch using an embroidery needle though.0 -

I have that Fizzy Moon kit to do too. He is sweet but I am nervous about the backstitch - what kind of needle is best to use if you need to pierce the material ? Some three quarter stitches I was doing on a piece of aida recently were a real faff because the aida was quite tough and I kept having to change needles to find out suitable.
I started an xmas penguin design last night so may stitch more of that today although its boring stuff like housework and tidying up first
Lots of cups of tea first though to wake me up :T0 -

A sharp needle will pierce the fabric - these are designed for embroidery. They are actually called sharps. Look for ones that have reasonable size eyes although small eyes are not too bad if you are only doing back stitch with one thread.
Just had a look at my hand needles and sharps are the ones with tiny eyes so embroidery needles are better IMHO but then my old eyes are easily challenged by needle threading these days0 -
Flat Eric having done the Fizzy Moon I would recommend doing it with a sharp as I struggled using the tapestry needle. I would say the threads provided are not the best and made it frustrating to sew - however they do look good once finished. (I have three more various magazine FM kits this is the first that has had the correct amount of thread available, I think one gives actual anchor/DMC thread numbers I will have a look see)0
