  • Hello all, I've been lurking on this site for a long time but have decided that today is the day I will have the courage to join in!
I've had a brilliant Christmas (my favourite time of the year) and thanks for this thread and to the tips from the money making one I have not got a massive credit card bill to settle at the end of next month - first year ever!!!!!:j and all this despite both my husband being made redundant at the beginning of the year and me having my hours slashed!
I pinched the idea of snowman soup this year and it went down a storm so I'll be looking for loads of new things to do for next Christmas.

    Hello all :j
Not such a lazy day today............wrote some 'thankyou' letters and cleared out a shoe box I'd covered in fabric -it was full of odds and ends- and now the previous years journals have a proper home. Just need to find one for the gardening journals now.
Young lad we used to foster turned up -hadn't seen him for over 2 years. He left pressies in a bit of a secretive way on his way out...........think they'll have to be passed on though. Bottle of whisky for OH -with his stomach problems I don't think it would be wise to have that, a comp mouse with daisies on..........I don't use one, stick to the touch pad on my laptop, and a white photo frame with blue spots on and a blue and white check ribbon to hang it up............so ''not me''. Not to worry......it'll all be passed on to someone else next year and I'll get something else with the money it saves me.

susan - you're putting me off these little sewing machines................:( Really I need to go to a shop that sells them and have a proper look. Girl who used to do my cleaning rang this afternoon and said she'd try and sort a day out when she's not working and take me somewhere to have a look.

Hope you're all ok and best wishes for 2012 !! Lets hope its a good one
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

  • rufus glad your heater is fixed and didnt cost anything nice that you found one of the good guys to come round

went morrys today got loads of reduced bits of food --little sausages, sausages roll, cream, pork pie and a gamon shank so cheap dinner tomorrow and some nice freezer fillers. also got 8 rolls of wrapping paper raning from 8p -38p
got Dh birthday pressie money neutrally, he wanted an xbox game that was on offerat £24 in sains (its almost £40 everywhere else) realised i had enough nectar points so used those and it didnt really cost an money.
got the crackers for tomorrows table reduced from £10 to £3 in sains ive opened them and added scratch cards and reduced choccy bars in them - hoping to do better as the christms table we only had 3 winners out of 10 £2, £2 and £1

i hope everyone has a lovely new year and i wish you all health, happiness and organisation

I can't believe it's 2012! I hadn't really got used to it being 2011. Today needs to be a major tidying up exercise, as the children's new toys are all over the place and as we didn't have time for a big clearout last year they haven't really got anywhere to go. I know it's a bit naughty but I'm also taking the xmas decorations down today as I can't bear them hanging around once xmas is over. My house is cluttered enough! I aspire to clear surfaces but I never actually get them.
Anyway, this year (no last year!) I did food hampers for adults which went down really well, and bought presents for the kids/teens and wrapped them in brown paper with lovely ribbon and a snowman soup attached. They loved them but I'd like to do something else similar next xmas as I already have brown paper and ribbon, so I'm thinking of a snowman soup alternative. Maybe milkshake? I did Pots of Gold for the table so it can't be those either. I have plenty of time to think about it I guess.
Have a good New Years Day everyone.
  • Have spent the morning reading the whole thread and would love to join you guys.
I am going to try and be good this year - I have a christmas cupboard at the top of the stairs full of pressies either for regifting or from last years boots sale. Unfortunately I was rubbish and used non of them for christmas (very silly I know!:o) So this year must get more organised - have lists of birthdays already - not to many biggies nephew is 18, a wedding and 2 christenings so not too bad.
Hopefully I can be more organised, although haven't been to the sales at all, normally I hit the boots.com sale once the kids are in bed on xmas eve but kept getting thrown out the site so gave it up as a bad job.
Hoping I can stay motivated with you guys help :)
