Hello all :j
susan - good to see you back. Was wondering where you were
mum2one - good surgery you've got there. Ours is much the same and we've an arrangement with the chemist for repeat prescriptions.........we just ring them once a month and they're ready to pick up......no need to go through the surgery
I've done next to nothing today - again ! Really must get my **** in gear and think of stuff to do. Everyones had pots of gold and gravy tubs full of beauty freebies...............looks like this year every one will have a little framed 'stitchery' of some sort but must think of other bits to put with them. Oh well............maybe tomorrow...............oh..........just thought of something I can do. I've got a load of books with pretty illustrations in I don't want anymore..........could make some bundes of lettercards, tie with ribbon............there.....thats something to do tomorrow............must ask OH to get me some card
Hope you're all ok:)
You got to have a rest at the weekend! - those sound absolutely lovely the lettercards, - u come up with brilliant ideas, quite weird, when we had the 2009 thread, I was keeping a word document of the good ideas, (for me), and looking the other day and came across the idea of the seed for the robin, for christmas. Passed that on the my friend who does a recycling club at school, so shes going to ask for pots and any spare robbins on the news letter.
xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
did our monthly table top sale, made £20 all helps, thou £10 was Miss Hoodies, she wants to invest it in some books, so pround of her, she does have her moments, but bless her heart.
On the stall next to me this bloke had a brand new sealed puzzle from WHSmith p 1 x1000 piece, 2 x 500 piece, - looks really posh, wanted £3, got it for £1.50, apparently he had it for xmas and its too many pieces, - perfect xmas prezzie for the neighbour by us, he loves puzzles. -One more bites the dust, and money neutral! xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
I agree Mum2one, Mary does come up with some lovely ideas. the notecards do sound lovely. Good bargain with the puzzle xx
I have had quite a boring weekend really, spent most of it stuck in front of the tv. OH has been on nights all weekend so no visitors and no noise while he was asleep. YD stayed away round ED's so just me and the dog.
I sold a bag on my shop on Friday eve so posted that off this morning. Got a tenner for it plus the postage money so I have bought some bits with some of the money. Wanted some toggles and end stops for cord to make some back pack kind of bags. I want to make one for my SIL for Christmas and if they come out ok I will make some more for the shop. I also want to have a go at making some scarves by felting. I have been buying a little bit here and there towards what I need and nearly have everything now. My ED brought me a lovely book for Christmas showing you how to make them so I thought I would make one for her for Christmas and may be one for myself too.0 -
rufus - I love your shops, def like the sound of the back pack type of bags, there be brilliant, me and sewing machines don't agree... weird as my nan was brilliant on them, but never got inherited by me or mum.
Love our shop, you've got some brilliant items, could I be cheeky, I like the saddle type bags, was thinking of one for mum for her bday, - would you be able to do a longer strap, just shes on crutches and like me its a nightmare with handbags, as you have to go over the neck. xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
MAry - great ideas, nice to see you
rufus - i been shopping at weekend, even went in hobbycraft and bought.......dressmaker pins. There was nothing else i wanted...their fat quarters are expensive!!! to be honest dont know how mush they suppose to be.
mum2one - well done on the table top sale, it all mounts up. What type of books does miss hoodie want, anything in particular?
dundeedoll - I love the pots of gold, everyone gets one at christmas, and they`ll be getting them at easter as well....Challenge 2018 - Learn by heart the Book by Wayne Morgan on Amazon - Betfair Football Trading as it helps to supplement my small income :beer:0 -

Mum2one, the straps vary in size, the latest ones I have done have adjustable straps and they come quite long anyway. The one I was using last myself went over my shoulder and cross body like an old school satchel kind of thing and came down to my hip the other side sort of where your front pocket of your jeans is, so quite long. The adjustable ones would be the same length but you can pull them up shorter if you want to.0 -

Susan, the fat quarters vary in price, at the shop I go to in Rochester near me, she sells them from about £2 going up to about £3.50 which is for more designer kind of patterns. You can sometimes get some for less than £2 if you are lucky. I reckon on paying approx £2.50 really and if they are less then I count it as a bargain. You might get them cheaper if you are buying a few together on Ebay but I think they would mostly work out about the same price. Best thing to do is to look for really cheap fabrics for most of what you are making and then use a few more expensive ones with a good design on to set it all off.
When I made YD's quilt (first one I did), I bought some skull patterened fabrics from Ebay sellers plus a couple of pretty pink ones like pink panther and some japenesey kind of thing, then I just bought some cheaper flowery, spotty, checked etc fabrics to go with them and dotted them about. Also add in some plain bits and it stretches your decent fabric by a lot xx0 -
Hello all :j
Running out of ideas........the Robins christmas breakfast was OH's idea..........a way of using up some tiny plant pots I'd got. Everyone had one that year so can't do that again.
I'm doing that primitive stitchery this year so everyones going to have a motto of some sort (whether they like it or not.........lol) plus little fabric hearts.
There's a thread running about '12 days of christmas' that looks like fun so might have a go at that for a couple of people and if I can find some really cheap gloves I've got enough off bits of wool to embroider something on them.
Open to suggestions................;)
Hope you're all ok:)I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

I made the back pack bag today for my SIL for Christmas. I need to get some cord to put round the top to do it up so I will get a photo done when I have that. Might be a few days yet though. At least I got all the sewing bits done to it today. OH is back on nights again tomorrow and Thursday, I thought he had finished them but he has swapped with someone so I wont get any more sewing done until the weekend. I can cross another present off the list though so thats a good thing.0
