Great news Sugarspun xx
We ventured into town again today, the weather was atrocious this morning so we left it until this afternoon, it was still a bit blowy but the rain had stopped. We took the two pairs of trainers back to Sports Direct and they changed them no problem even though they had been bought back in November. I just hope the new ones fit and they like them. They worked out a fiver cheaper so we bought YGS a tshirt for his birthday which is this month. I got him a football annual to go with it which was reduced to £1.99.0 -
Hello all :j
susan - brilliant news for you
sugar spun - pleased OH is coming home........I know the feeling- I didnt realise how much I missed OH till he wasn't sat in his kitchen chair.
Well, been into town despite the biting wind (thank heavens for neighbours daughter and her car!) so stocked up on card and glue and embroidery thread so I can get stuck into some sort of 'sampler'. Enough to keep me going for a bit anyway and I can get xmas cards done out of the way.
OH is now talking about a coach holiday:eek: We've had them before and they were really good............brochure came through today and theres one for a long weekend in Brighton -5 miles from where youngest son lives- I'm wondering if my back will stand the journey..........maybe if I take a couple of cushions ? Not booking anything yet though in case he changes his ming. I know he wants something to look forward to -don't we all- but I was thinking that having the back shed knocked down to give him some veg space would be the thing. Apparently not. Oh ..........men !;)
Hope you're all ok and keeping warm -the winds been biting today:)I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

I have written out my 2012 Christmas and Birthday/Anniversary card lists.
I need to make 102 Christmas cards - I make Mr F's business Christmas cards - that's why so many! Then the total for Birthday/Anniversary cards is 65. Sounds daunting when you look at the numbers. I haven't been through the gifts I already have put by yet - I am still getting over the card numbers.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Someone will be very busy xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Had a very productive day... mostly in my favour
Sky - We had free sports and movie package, ended end of Dec, rang up to go back to orignal package, then decided bluff my way to see what discounts could get, have been thinking of leaving, but want free sat recordable box, £200, we've been quotes.
Previuosly wanted multi-room, they said yes, but had quotes between £150 and £200.....
Got free sports and movies for another month, reduced my package down, said not paying £10pm for HD mix, and got my multi room, they offered basic sky box non-recordable, bluffed said in 6 months time may get HD side back, so got HD box, free fitting, and free box........ Saved £220.....
Halifax - I could throttle them, they made a big error on my account back in August, took 8 weeks to get DD given back to me, they promised me £25 goodwill gesture, still waiting.... had 2 x £5 goodwill gestures whilst I'm awaiting £25..... now there giving me £70 as a sweetner.... (apparently be in account by Fri!!- were see!)
Venue for mum and dads wedding party - its a lovely pub, has a seperate function room, either £5 per head for them to do the buffet, minimum of 50 people (£250), or if I do own food and afternoon booking, should be £150 room hire, but as its a surpirse party, lovely idea, shes knocked £50 off, - got room for £100. (when hlaifax pay up, only have to pay £30 for room), knock up a buffet cheaper than £5 ph.
Been invited to my tutors 60th birthday party, he's the one whos mums furneral we went to last yr.... (ok got to find v expensive looking present - mse prices!!)
Cafcass - 50/50 but rang to find out who Miss Hoodies cafcass officer is, the 1st got "removed" from the case, the 2nd on maternity leave..... but officer 1 has taken over all the cases. - Told them no way, the mgr is now getting another officer in.
Dads house insurance - set the wheels in motion for him to get £40 cashback, (after 90days) he's giving me £20 towards Lapland when he gets the money.
Birthday Presents 2012
Bar Mum, dad, Miss Hoodie, have now got all the bday presents done, - from what we had left from last yr, a few regifts, and couple of sale items.
Ordered £8 cashback.... xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Lots of good news there Mum2one, hope you get the money from Halifax.0

morning all
mum2one threaten halifax with the daily mail financial pages, people write to them and they take the case on - printing the bones of the complaint and the outcome in the paper. most people usually get an amount as a gesture of 'goodwill' pretty quickly but the paper still name and shame.
concentrated on doing inventory of food cupboards yesterday so not much gifty got done, have earmarked a nice bottle of rose we got for christmas as a friends birthday pressie for this month so thats MSE
rung local 2for1 eaterie we use and booked a table for DH birthday DD is making him a cake to take with us so we havent got to worry about buying puddings also booked laserforce as the boys love that so its a sort of shared event for all of them as they dont really do parties
keep wanting to nip tescos to see if they have any cheap christmas cards but dh has told me not to do it or ill end up buying food we dont need - hes seen the inventory list i wrote out yesterdaySPC~12 ot 124

good list there mum2one. well done. are carcass having a joke assigning the original one. ?
moneypenny-my new years resolution is to try to stay out of the big supermarkets. I'm going to try lidl and local butchers and bakery.
must say about local butcher he's outstanding. been twice well impressed. cost a bit more for the meat. but it doesn't shrink I buy the exact quantity want. and no fat or gristle. I paid £30 for beef in morrissons and cut about a third off (fat and gristle) So I'll stick with local for a while . see how bills go.
that's some cards you have to make florenceem. I'm trying for 500 lol. about 100 for me and rest for a friend 100 and I promised charities. I didn't do them last year and they were disappointed so I'll do them this year.
Mary-coach trip sounds brill . I'd love to do one and have friends that do but OH gets travel sick so we drive everywhere. be nice to look forward toChallenge 2018 - Learn by heart the Book by Wayne Morgan on Amazon - Betfair Football Trading as it helps to supplement my small income :beer:0 -
i go to tescos if theres something cheap i can stock up on as its walking distance, morrisons is the sat morning shop and once a month i do an aldi farmfoods stock up. morrys hadnt got any cards at all last saturday but i did get loads of rolls of reduced wrapping paper, my cards stock is really low for next christmas so i think it makes sense to get some now if i see them cheap enough. but i agree with what you are saying about big supermarkets being money drains
also we are veggie and aldi dont do quorn type things (not ours anyway) so i need farmfoods/supermarkets for thatSPC~12 ot 124

Our Tesco had a lot of boxes of cards in day before yesterday. I bought a box for my Dad, think it was either 30 or 50 for 50p, just normal cheap kind which is what he likes lol.0
