  • i've been slowly...very slowly, paying everything off....not getting too far (got 5 x your debt!) but haven't increased...luckily I don't have the option to increase my debt any further. Been a bit obsessed with collecting tesco points....will have enough for a holiday this summer soon!

How was Israel??? what else have you been up to? socialising? any men on the scene?

  • Hypno, thank you, I have read it all! I'm afraid I dont understand this whole pigsback quidco thing, no matter how i look at it it seems you need to SPEND the cash first....

And I looked at your sig too, wow thats a lot of debt, well done for dealing with it. How did you get that together if you dont mind me asking (dont have to answer... :) ) all credit cards and loans? my debt is credit card debt all...

SF well done, last year, you must be excited... fantastic savings wish i had those at your age, very well done. you should be proud of yourself.

I just read the stoozing article and I will do stoozing once I got my credit report sorted - ohh I didnt say it here, but I made a thread about it, Lowell put a DEFAULT on my credit report! about a debt that is not mine! After days of hassle (and a lot of crying) it seems that they will sort it out and I got proof from the creditor (T Mobile) that they wont be pursuing this debt as its possibly a fraud and that they dont hold me responsible etc etc.. so once its sorted, away I go to apply for a 0% credit card, pay off debt with that and use the leftover for stoozing and then pay that back too... will see.

So excited about this again. I can be debt free. Snowball say I be debt free in 12 months. I believe it will happen sooner, but hey we will see.

Ohh a query: more likely than not that my bank will offer me an unsecured loan of £15000 (long story why) on 7.4% - do you think i should go ahead with it, pay off debt, dont use credit cards (cancel them, I can do it) and use the money left to put down a deposit for a home?

Thanks, I guess I am proud of the savings, even though they aren't that much really. But considering I have no income apart from my student loan, I think I'm doing okay :)
Re: the bank loan, 7.4% doesn't seem very high, but I'm not sure its the best solution. Would you be able to afford mortgage repayments etc? Someone with a better answer will be along shortly, I'm sure :)
What are you upto today? Anything moneysaving? I'm attempting a NSD today :)

    Today's debt report.
    GOOD NEWS TODAY!
A little background: I have paid my hsbc credit card £250 two weeks ago, the usual way: bank transfer. It always goes through but this time it didn’t. Called Natwest, they said hsbc have claimed it. Called hsbc, they said they never got it. I have sepnt hours in the bank, they were very unhepful (hsbc!), so once I finished I sent off a letter of complaint. They since called me, apologised, etc, but that was it. And today, I see that they have credited £25 to my credit card, calling it goodwill adjustment. Well, wowy! Thanks guys! Very nice news to start the day with.
So HSBC balance: £2250.60 (Limit £3500)
Marks and Spencer balance £1245.09 (Limit £1500)
Amex Balance £710 - :(:( on Wednesday evening we went out with friends to a lebanese restaurant and.. I… Paid. .. £40 :(:(:( on my amex. Loathe me.
But, Capital One balance: £0! Card cut up and cancelled!
Now next payday: I will have to pay the amex balance in full (it's the highest interest)
That’s 700. But then I can spend on it next month as I always do for airmiles, and set a budget of 400. Say, my amex bill on the 26th of February won't exceed £400. that's my challenge. Not easy.
Ok now M&S Minimum payment is £40. I will pay that
    Rent: £400
    Standing Order £20
    Gym £50
HSBC Credit card: £200. And that’s £1400 which is what I take home. AND then my sharesaving saving will be £405 (£272 now). And actually this will give me a good return in 3 years, guaranteed 20% bonus and possibe doubling the money if share prices soar.
Natwest overdraft limit £50 and I have £44 CR on it so that’s good too but gym for two months £100 will be deducted… but £37 coming from paypal.
And my work eating card has now 20p on it so I will have to withdraw a tenner and refill. :(
    Total debt £3625.07. :o
    Goals: 1.) DFD December 2008 (snowball) / October 2008 (me:o ) 2.) Salary £30kpa (currently £26450pa) 3.) Slim down to 55kg (currently 68kg :( ) 4.) Start stoozing :j
