I have to answer to this separately because this was so lovely - thank you :) I'm feeling much better.

Actually, I'm thinking about eating some kind of chicken fajita wrap today - I only need chicken and tortilla as we have peppers! but if anyone has an idea what else I could put thats not chicken, that would be great (cus chicken expensive).

Just saw this, it looks like a great plan, apart from that you dont have chicken! Could you just make it into a vegetable wrap, add some other veg that you have and like? :)

Or turkey is sometimes cheaper than chicken. Have a good browse around. Do you have a Aldi or Lidl near you? I hear they are quite cheap.

Personally i would not pay all your excess of debts. I would budget and save some cash for your spending, so you get out of the habit of using ANY card. Then I would pay what's left - min payments on all, rest on Amex.

    Just my personal opinion! :)

Sorry to hear you're looking pale and not well. How about some veggie homemade soup so that keeps the cold out thats coming in the next few days? If you make a big batch with some cheap 'near end of life' veggies you can freeze some for the weekend too?

    Hiya SF & Catt!

I had turkey fajita (thanks to Catt's advice), I bought tesco turkey stripes for £3.15 and I only used one quarter of it so it will be enough for another three meals!!! and I used the peppers I had and used other vegs (thanks to SF's advise!! I used onions and a little celery, it was fantastic in the wrap...) and bought tortilla for £1 but I only used two and theres about another 18 remaining so that was a really good buy!!! and I ate tons (plus one baguette but I did not pay for it) because I still have bread craving. So I feel much much better!!!

Catt - with regards to the amex, I absolutely know what you mean and I know this would be the right thing to do, but I have been buying extremeley cheap BA air tickets just ebcause I spend on my amex, and I actually think that if I keep repaying the amount every month, then it will be a better deal for me - I absolutely have to buy tickets because my family lives abroad! so let me just try this way first and if in one months time it turns out that I cant control myself about spending on amex then I'll admit you were right and I'll budget as you said!! :)

its just that I can get £50 return tickets if I use my points... thats really cheap.

Hi deliciosa! I am chasing you around all over the place at the moment ;)

I posted some recipes using lentils and chickpeas as required - here is the link, I won't take up more space on this diary thread. But I hope they help as well as the Old Style board and (on the other thread) the link to the "Frugal" website recipes. They are all vegetarian though as I am veggie.
    Hope that's ok?

I am so glad to hear you went shopping and got all that stuff and had a good feed! Makes me feel warmer inside to know you had a good meal today hon.

I think you sound very determined to clear your debts and that is admirable.

You might just want to take a moment to work out if you need any equipment to keep your healthy food intake going before you commit all that money though i.e. do you need a thermos flask? Could you do with a milk pan to warm up some soya milk for oats in the morning (if you haven't got a microwave), do you need a pan to make soup, could you spare £10 or so to buy a hand blender to make soups? These things could be so essential for you to have good food!

Sorry if I sound like your Mum ;)

I think you said in another post you were thinking of buying a slow cooker. One chicken breast chopped up, a load of veg, a veg stock cube and some water make about 4 portions of fantastic filling chicken and veg soup (add a diced potato if you want it to be really filling). Yummy!
