Where can we find a list of who own/makes what in the Tyre industry?
I see that a lot of the premium brands have budget sub brands so there must be a way to tell who is who?!
From my own observation:
Falken is owned by Dunlop
Avon is owned by Cooper
GT is owned by Continental
Vredestein is owned by Apollo
Admiral owned by Kumho
That's the beauty of marketing, if you believe hard enough that the sound from one expensive stereo is better than another one cost half the price.. than it will.
Happy Xmas and please don't get to a situation where you need to provoke any excessive use of these expensive rubber circles, i.e use your head, it's far cheaper.

Remember laughing at the Indian car manufacturers when they made all the old Austins and Morris?
Now they're well within the top 10 world manufacturers, and in the top five of exporters.
Most major brands have manufacturing in their country, and they are keen to snap up any marque we'll give them.
In fairness though where are the Indian-owned companies? There's only really Tata.
The likes of Suzuki, FIAT, Nissan and Hyundai have all set up massive factories churning out small cars though. I guess it's only a matter of time before an indigenous company muscles in on the international market though.
They still make the Hindustan Ambassador I believe, which demonstrates that there is, perhaps, still some way to go. Even Iran stopped producing their version of the old Rootes Arrow (a much more modern design) some time ago.0 -
Their are a few more than Tata I'm afraid.
They have quietly taken the car market for themselves.

You're in the wrong part of the world for indian produced cars.
Exports are to Brazil, Africa, Thailand, etc, (where they have production plants).
They aren't quite up to the "class" perceived in europe, but assemble for the marques that sell here though.
They're getting there though.

I guess one of the reasons they still use it is that it stands up to their roads, basic servicing and abundance of cheap pattern parts.
That and the fact that any back street repair shop can work on them with a hammer, acetylene torch and without myriad of computer diagnostics.
Never ceases to amaze me how we in the west chase all these hightech products, oils and tyres when these things keep going and going on the basics in often much harsher conditions."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....
