"Top 20", Top 20 what? Quality? Sales? We've gone through a world wide recession.... Every idiot on wheels will be going out and buying the cheapest crap going.
I haves een tyres being produced at Goodyear and remembering adverts like the "Grand Prix S" whilst they also made Kelly on the same lines(probably different compounds I accept), tyres aren't rocket science, in the main.
Don't forget Bridgestone were "rubbished" 30/40 years ago.
I just wonder who we trust when most of the tyres are manufactured in the far east these days, Korea, Thailand, Taiwan.
Wonder if they still make any in those pre EU countries that were trashed at the time, like Czech Republic and Barum. I guess now they are in the EU we can trust them.

Definitely mickey mouse.
It's easy to rubbish them
But I agree. It's one of the best known brands, everyone in the world knows them, they are world leaders and we all know the history from his first cartoon to the buying of most other major brands, and the way mickey mouse and Disney now leads the technolgy in the field he's in.
Doesn't the fact a nation builds an entire town to produce tyres, pulls in world leaders to pay them to make their brands, and so has access to nearly every tread and every compound in the world even give anyone any cause for concern.
Or is it enough to say, "what a silly name, they must be ditchfinders, I'll stick to the well known name like Avon they still make in china, but we'll skip over that bit"
Conti are doing the, "we're really dear, if we point out the worst, on a bad day, we'll keep the premium for a brand we now make in the eastern block, and people will still pay"
So, east germany, or china?0 -

Bridgestone, Japanese rubbish if I remember.
Yokohama as well, you used to buy a decent Japanese motobike, (as opposed to the British rubbish, leaked oil, if they ran, then broke down anyway), first thing you have to do to the wonder bike was scrap the tyres and put a decent set on.0 -
In theory the difference between a Chinese ditch finder and a 'known' brand that is made in China is the engineering behind it. Just because it is made in the same place doesnt mean it contains the same stuff.
BMW, Mercedes, etc all have plants in China and you cant tell the difference between cars made there or the ones made in other plants.
Look at how badly the Chinese reverse engineered cars held up when they were crash tested a few years ago. They may look the same but are not the same.0 -
They absolutely are not fine , unfortunately some people will only find that out the hard way. Too many other threads to go on about it but to the op, please just spend a little more on some reasonable rubber or look around for some at that price
Eveb something like the falken 912 would be a better choice at 72 fitted, still not a great tyre if I'm being honest but I would be willing to bet it will far outperform your others
Again, the same assumptions, can I please see the statistics showing a comparisons of accidents rates where said car involved had budget tyres vs cars having premuim brands boots?
The fact of the matter is you have no proof of such kind so your assumption is that - yours.
Like someone here said before, the way to the ditch is long and many reaons to it, tyre brand should probably be the list of your worries.Five exclamation marks the sure sign of an insane mind!!!!!

They learned though and they are now classed as a premium brand. DOn't watch it but aren't they one of only two F1 manufacturers?"If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

And the better driver you are, the better tyres you want.
The better the driver you think you are with little understanding of the technology."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

No not if wants to be sold here it has to meet the specifications laid down here.
I know a few people who worked in the motor industry in Europe, engineers and designers, not line assemblers, who are working in China and India who are working in state of the art plants. 20 years ago you may have been wholly right.
Gucci fakes don't need a safety specification."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....
