OMG! The first review is by someone who arrived at 10.30pm and had an 'encounter' :eek:Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I must apologise to the op.
I thought he was making more of the situation and must have provoked the receptionist in some way.
Reading those reviews it seems the receptionist needs a good slapping.0 -
People often feel threatened by 3 fingered, blad, yellow, fat men! I should know! :rolleyes:0

right, thank you everyone. you have made me feel i really do have a case and i will start pursuing it in the morning. the more i think about it, the more i think it was pretty offensive and i really ought to do something about it. it's just not nice.
but please, any thoughts about compensation welcome.0 -
irishwench, thank you, i should have looked at that site before i booked!
doozergirl, sadly i am not kapricon from county durham! (the person who posted on tripadvisor)
advent1122, apology accepted. it's difficult to get a sense of someone from just lines of text, i can see why you thought i was hiding something.0 -
I must say sorry for any doubts I had as well. I thought there was more to it, but I was astounded when you posted the full version.
This is far more serious than I originally thought. It seems from the reviews that the staff do have an attitude problem, but far more serious than this is the possible racial undertones.
Letters to the HO, and hotel for a start. You have every right to put another review on at tripadvisor as well (warn as many people as possible). You have proper cause to complain. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

I'd say to definitely put a review on tripadvisor as i know, I, for one never book a hotel without going there to look first.
And when you write to the hotel group, I think you should mention that you have posted to a public forum about the way you were treated and considered informing the press (even if you have no intention of doing so, it can shake them up)
And good luck. I would probably have ranted and raved a lot in those circumstances.0 -
I've been reading a couple of the reviews.....what can I say? I'm disgusted. What about going to Watchdog on BBC1? They like this kind of story.
Don't take it personally though- it seems like they treat all their customers like carp!July Win: Nokia 58000 -
Astounding >.<
My first reaction would have been to wonder what happened that would have made the staff act in such a way. However, after having brightly coloured hair for a couple of years I now have full understanding that some people are just bigotted and can take a dislike to you and behave in a totally irrational way just because of the way you look, talk or act differently to how they do.
I would definately complain. I would also ask for a detailed explanation as to why you were put through such stress and embarresment by the staff's unreasonable and unjustified behaviour.**********************************************************************

Having just looked up the hotel on Trip Advisor (http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g186338-d609641-Reviews-Belgrave_House_Hotel-London_England.html) it would appear your story is not unusual at this hotel and even if you complain you will get nowhere.
Why not post your story over on that site so that other people avoid it in the future as well.0
