I am no expert in property but have lived in many types of homes, in many locations and can only talk from experience.0 -

Sorry? Could you please explain what you mean by this?
I'm a prison officer, and am just wondering if I should be taking hospitality management lessons before I go to work today.
You are either an ex-con, or totally ignorant as to how prison officers go about their jobs.Wha's like us - damn few, an' they're a' deid

Don't be silly, turning an entirely friendly thread into an argument is something that happens all too often on here!
If your clientéle at the prison are similar to the ones that attend four star hotels then I apologise, but I don't think any of the people I've seen at the hotel in the last 8 months have been murderers or rapists!0 -
i would complain to hotel and head office and also ask for compensation, after a late night, you had to find another hotel.. (stressful and shocked by the attutide of the staff.)
also write to the hotel assocation! :dance:smile everyday...cos its free
Live everyday to the Full..cos there is no tomorrow:dance:0 -
I used to be a Night Manager, and I thought I was pretty lovely (spent most of the night chatting to any insomniacs we had staying, also had a fantastic party with a load of footballers one night!).
However, my counterpart was an absolute nightmare, the slightest thing and he would fly off the wall, and he did call the police needlessly on many occasions.
On one night, two men had come in, obviously the worse for drink but in very good spirits, and 'borrowed' one of the mini Christmas trees on the counter. I ignored it, knowing that even if we didn't get it back it had only cost 99p, but when he realised he went ballistic. He stormed up to their room, opened their room door (this was past 3am, they were sparko), and demanded it back or he would call the police. Bless them, they were so embarrassed, they used to stay all the time ... but never again! xGone ... or have I?0 -
I have a gut feeling that there is something else going on here , and I am not being disrespectful to the OP. Receptionist turning away prebooked guests and then offering room to another punter.......
HOWEVER, if the OP wants to pursue it , how about getting his credit card company to put the payment in dispute( I think that is what it is called).Basically the CC company invalidate the payment to the company pending enquiries . I would be very interested to hear the outcome of this incident .0 -
You must have been too "Handsome" Homer0

As hotels want to make money, I can't see why they'd turn people away, unless they were overbooked or there was a problem with the customer.
LinYou can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.0 -
Yeah but the night managers don't often have much of an interest in the income for the amount of effort it takes to make it, especially if the revenue department never finds out there was an issue in the first place....0

I too suspect there is more to this than meets the eye. If not the receptionist is crazy. On the subject of the night manager, there is a fine book of that name by John le Carre, which is well worth reading.0
