  • Looking at the Britax Evolva and Jane Indy for my 5 year old and 7 1/2 year old.

Interesting to note that while doing a web search for the Jane I came across a US site which said it should be used as a full seat and not a booster-bottom bit until the child reachs 153cm! In that case I will have to buy 1 for me too!

Just watched the youtube video- tears still rolling- will be driving 20 miles to Mothercare world to check out the car seats, and explain to my 7 year old why he will be sitting in a baby seat- even if it means he has to watch the video.

i got the INDY (with Isofix) for my little princess, whilst it is the best looking seat, its a little fiddly trying to get the isofix in.

i wouldn't trust the britax lists completeley. they say my 2002 top of the range corsa has isofix as standard but it doesn't.

Our 2002 Almera Tino is listed as Isofix but we couldn't find the anchor points anywhere. Turned out that there was a built-in 'tear' point in the rear seats and lo and behold the anchors were right inside, embedded in the upholstery. Fitted our seat fine then...

So the moral of the story is to triple check where you think the anchor points should be.
  • Hi.

I've just bought an isofix fitted car and we're expecting our first child in July.

Wondering where to begin with finding the best option for a child seat, any advice ?

    Thanks

PS. Is it possible for somebody to pin all the resources/articles etc. to the top of the thread, I hate having to ask the same questions that everybody else has already asked.

Having read the Which report on car seat safety, the Britax Cosy Tot Premium is a good safe seat for a new baby. You buy the isofix base separately. You can check on the Britax website as to whether the isofix fits into your new car.
  • Thanks Angela...do you have a link to the Which report ?

This seat is too much like the Britax Trio which didn't score well on the crash test report , I would go for something like the Britax Evolva 123/123 Ultra or the Recaro Young Sport .

Natalie, I know that it's not the best seat but my son 3.9 yo that weights 19kg will not have 5 point harness with Britax Evolva 123. But car boosters are not secure for him yet.
Have you got something to share - Do it.

    Hi
Thank you to everyone who has put so much info on this subject. I have not watched the video as my baby son died before Xmas and I am not up to seeing anything traumatic at the moment - a bit too raw. However I really need to sort out car seats for my daughter as I am totally paranoid about everything just now.

Flimber I have a 2000 Almera that says it has Isofix so I've purchased a Jane Indy plus but can not work out how to do the isofix. Could you give me any more info on how you did it as its driving me mad?

Also I wondered if anyone could suggest the best car for my mum to get for my 3 yr old DD? My mum has a Mercedes A Class and the seats are really striaght up at back - no idea what would fit.
Thank you in advance for any help

    hey :)

Isn't that a great car - we have one too! what colour is yours? Dont say it's jade green cos thats what mine is!

My Jane seats arrived today, blue one for ds and pink for dd except ds is 15kgs and still fits in his Britax Elite so we'll keep him in there for a while. Thanks for telling us where the anchors are as we would have had the same problem! xx
