I've been paid! £175.23 in extra hours and Bank Holiday pay. :D

Also made £8.08 worth of savings on food shopping. :D

I know this doesn't bring me to the realms of inestimable wealth (yet) but I am pleased because my new signature total is £319.90 so I only need to do that six times over and I am almost at the £2K mark. :o

There were some great bargains in the food shopping, by the way: Seville oranges that had just been marked down to 22p a bag so I shall be making marmalade soon, and parsnips so I can make more of the curried parsnip soup which is a very good substitute for junk carbs so will help me to become gorgeous as well as inestimably rich.

    Maybe not this week, though.

Oh dear, a severe case of the munchies every evening this week :( Not looking forward to weighing myself on Sunday.

On a brighter note, I just got a fab deal on my home phone and broadband too. Phoned new company and got offered a deal, phoned my own provider who tried to better it (and it was a good deal) so I called the new company back to cancel my order and they offered an outstanding deal!!! 12 month contract, no line rental for 12 months, £5 a month for anytime calls and £3.25 a month for unlimited broadband. How crazy is that? £8.25 per month for phone and broadband :j:j
My original provider thinks I got a great deal and is more than happy to send out my MAC code :)

So I've calculated that that's £65.25 saved over the next three months (£261 over the year :j)

Hmmm, just had a thought. Do I update my signature with the amount saved for just the next 3 months (coz that's the time left in the challenge) or do I update it with the amount saved over the year (coz that's the deal/contract I got)?

    Which should I do?

  • Found £1 lying in the street, straight into my wee piggy bank :)

How does everyone end up cashing in there spare change? I know there is the coinstar machines but they charge 8.9p in every pound.
There is also the bank but for me this isn't the best way cause they will only accept a few bags at a time which means several long trips. Is there any other ways that people use? :)

I bag up and take bags of coins to small local shops and pay for cat litter/papers etc with it if they are interested. They have to pay the bank to get the change so most are happy to have the change neatly in bags ready to use. Obviously I try to go at quiet times and am prepared to wait while they count it but after a couple of times most of my local shops trust me now and don't count it any more. Once I am back home the amount is transferred on my spreadsheet from my housekeeping money into my savings pot (as if I had not paid like that I would have had to get the money out the cash machine so it is still spent out of the correct account).

Does that make sense to read ? I know it does to me but then I know what I mean !!!
