What is the worst car you ever owned, and why?

The title of the thread is "What is the worst car you have ever owned?" I answered that and added that I will never own another Vauxhall. I couldn't care less that YOU are happy to own and drive them.
I demand better from the cars I buy.
Hear hear.
The worst car I ever owned was a Vauxhall Calibra. Looked nice, drove hideously. A hateful, hateful car to quote our Lord JC (on another Vauxhall I believe).
Got rid of it when head gasket went for a second time. This was in 1999 and I will never buy that brand again.
And don't get me started on Vauxhall Corsa drivers. The most dozy ignorant people on the road.
A hateful brand, for hateful drivers.0 -

And they weren't limited to Fords.
My 1971 VW Beetle had the wiper blades operated by pressure from the spare wheel... Really! I don't know who was the inventor of this weird contraption but is was carp and never really worked.Five exclamation marks the sure sign of an insane mind!!!!!

Worst car i've ever owned was a 1989 Ford Escort 1.3 L, in rust....err blue.
I was driving along at 55mph, went into 3rd gear to overtake a lorry and a MASSIVE clunk and bang happened, the gearbox split in half and went all over the road !!!!ing out oil everywhere, I had to drive home and guess where the gears were, I couldn't use 2nd gear because it got stuck so i had to go from 1st to 3rd which ment revving the nutts off it.
I had that fixed then 1 week later I was going round a round-a-bout and the drivers seat bolts snapped (they were completely rusted) and the seat tipped over into the passenger area and i nearly crashed.
Then 1 morning the water pump decided to give-up on me and smoke was everywhere so I got rid of it for a 1994 Ford Escort 1.8 Ghia which was just as bad.0 -
I frequently drive Vauxhalls (Corsa/Astra) when I am working in a voluntary capacity. The organisation I work for has a contract with Vauxhall. The vehicles are still pieces of **** chosen no doubt because of the cheapness of the deal. They are always in the workshop.
Very different to the experience I have had with Vauxhalls. I bought a 1986 Cavalier 1.6 hatchback in 1992 and kept it for three and a half years. Took the mileage from 70000 up to 93000 and the only failure I had was the water pump. Apart from that it was reliable and did the job for me.
Fast forward to 2007 when I bought a six month old Meriva 1.7CDTi. I also kept this one for three and a half years. The only thing that went wrong in that time was the electric motor failing on the front passenger window. This was replaced under warranty. Otherwise it was totally reliable. I sold it in January 2011 with 43000 on the clock and it was still on the original disc pads front and rear with plenty of pad material left.
I have also used a variety of Vauxhalls through work and they have done the job ok. They are not fancy or flash cars and like anything made by man there are always going to be duff ones."You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"

That's all very well but this thread is about the worst car people have owned so your information should really be on a different thread. Some of you seem to be having a bit of trouble with that concept recently.
But hey that's MSE all over. 50% of responders will answer the given question and 50% have their own agenda.
Don't grow up. Its a trap!

I'm not telling you what you can say - on the contrary you are continually trying to say that because you have had a succession of cheap and nasty Vauxhalls then they are fine for everyone. They aren't and that's that. I've read some of your posts on other forums - you're always fixing your cars. Some of us just want to drive cars that don't need to be in the garage for weeks on end with one fault after another.
As I said (yet again yawn) I answered the question in the thread title. I can't help it if you don't like my answer. Get over yourself and go build something or repair it or whatever else you do. :rotfl:
Was this by any chance your attitude to the dealers, maybe that's why you had a "difficult" experience.0 -

[ ] How interesting!
[ ] Rather dull I’m afraid!
[ ] Hey that’s really funny.

Do I need to explain how this works? OK the red cross shows your personal reply.
Got it? Great.

I can see why you won't be owning a vauxhall again. Did they ban you from coming back?0
