seriously?!! that's ridiculous. wouldn't you still get something due to having a low income? i was thinking more for science jobs as labs often pay the interns £8hr+(which science btw?) i know law is madness- my friend has a law degree from oxford and a qualification in french law and is scuppered too. why do they make life so hard for us genuine nice people

I'm environmental science, i found a job in the patent office that wanted a science degree and just was doing law so i'd have been the perfect candidate but apparently, a BSc (Hons) environmental science degree isn't a science degree according to the government. the mind boggles!

We are having a Christian ceremony which I'm dreading as I'm Pagan and to me it's standing there and telling lies, but it'll keep him happy. I'm insisting on adding in a unity candle and Pagan reading, and then adding in lots of our personality in little touches and making as much myself as possible.

im pagan too and point blank refused a church. thankfully my DH has pagan leanings too. we got married in central park in aug and it was lovely. the american civil ceremonies have none of the god stuff in so it was perfect for us. i think my dad (roman catholic, goes to church, still thinks its all a "fad") wasn't too chuffed but it was what we wanted.

whenever i have to go to a church and take part in a ceremony like funerals/weddings i reckon that my goddess knows I'm really meaning her when i say "god". sometimes i add a cheeky "s" on the end of it so no1 can hear me too :A
  • Hi All
    Fabbing this morning:
Defuzzed legs (didn't get round to it yesterday)
    Shower
    Hair done
    Face cleansed and moisturised.

    Still to do:
Hope to go for a walk but weather is still foul up here - wind and rain, although wind not as bad as yesterday.
Cleanse, tone, night serum (Liz Earle stuff, using it up)
Nails - they grow so fast I can't keep up with them. They need filed down again as I need to keep them really short for doing remedial massage.

Thanks for all the suggestions re my 40th. Really like the lastminute.com idea. Will defo be going somewhere where there are indoor options like a pool. Was thinking about the Warner hotels too so might have a look at their site later on.

When I get married I'll be wanting the most untraditional wedding possible :D Already decided I'm wearing purple, I think I made my mind up on that years ago.

    Good morning ladies

Well went for my interview with DWP, they were all very helpful and pleasant - perhaps as well because whilst there I had a major stress attack, severe chest pains and burst into tears.

Oh yes I qualify for Income Support right enough, however, the amount of carers allowance I currently receive will be deducted from the IS giving me a net gain of the princely sum of £12-50 a week. You gotta laugh.

It only cost me £4 in parking fees, not to mention 3 hours of my time this morning and three hours yesterday. I could have used that time to being a Mrs Mop, the going rate is at least £8 an hour. 6 hours would have given me £48 minimum.

Needless to say just asap I will be giving DWP the elbow and telling them what they can do with their benefits. I'd rather scrub floors than go through hoops for the sake of £12-50.

Have a meeting with OH's care manager on Monday will discuss OH's pension etc then. DS2 says that there is nothing going at the garden centre at the moment. It normally picks up around Easter time. A few hours, plus OH's pension, plus my own wheeling and dealing should be enough, plus the boys have started repaying their loans back to me.

I'm not too concerned I am happy to live a simple life and I can be very frugal when I have to be. I will regard it as a challenge. The big plus to OH being in care now is that I actually have time to shop around, cook, make do and mend, all those MSE things.

Anyway after all that I decided I needed a little treat :D so had a mooch round the charity shops in town and picked up a fab little coat for £10 - will try and post up some piccies one of these days. It's a sort of mustard coloured multi-check - sounds awful but its a great cheerer upper for dark miserable winter days. Also a little summer top for £1 - one of the straps needs fixing.

    Soooo - not entirely a wasted morning.:rotfl:

Fab wise - did a fair bit of walking this morning, will drag out the yoga mat later. Off to see OH via the farm shop for some nice fresh eggs and some vegetables.

I am going to try and do this kind of thing - fewer trips to the big 4 supermarkets, concentrate on places like Aldi, B&M, Home Bargains, Farm Foods, farm shops, markets etc. Gotta slash those housekeeping bills.:rotfl:

    Any other's you can recommend.

Hope you are all having a great day. The cold wind is making my skin feel very sore and dry. Time to slap on some more moisturiser before I go out.

Home Bargains is brilliant LL, I spend half my life in my local store! On the days I sign on I go back into town, go to all the charity shops, Home Bargains then Wilkinsons. I've got stuff in there for less than half the price it is in places like Tesco.

You've always got the Old Style boards for inspiration anyways :)

the whole thing is ridiculous. all the jobs are being advertised with just silly experience levels because employers know they can be ridiculously picky with who they employ so young people who need that first "proper" job are left out to dry.
So true! When Mr LW was job-seeking, (he's an IT professional, btw) jobs were being advertised as requiring knowledge of Oracle 10 (which was the lastest, all-singing, all-dancing version at that time) when in fact they were still using Oracle 7. It was crazy! Poor man applied for no less than 300 and change posts in the 11 months he was out of work; and the JC treated him like a lazy scrounger!
    OK Rant over.:D

Merry meet, I'm Pagan too!:D We had a civil ceremony, followed by a very simple Pagan ceremony that I put together myself. It was easy for us though; we're both "recycled" and didn't have family to have to please.:D

Not having a great day today, I fear; shoulder is virtually immovable today, so my hair hasn't been brushed as I can't get the brush up there; and Mr LW was running a tad late this morning, so I didn't like to bother him to do it for me.I had a bad night last night, and I think that's contributed; pain kept me awake for most of it, and when I did drop off, I had a really horrid nightmare.:(

Well, I shall try for my Wii Fit time in a bit, but other than that, I think I'll write today off as a victory for Coyote (trickster in the Navaho tradition, for anyone interested, and my own personal tormentor:cool::D ) and start fresh (or at least fresher) tomorrow.:o
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

mine was a purple corset (lined with black) with a purple prom style skirt lined with black netting. had it custom made and it was still £400 cheaper than the bridal shops were asking for bog standard dresses!

learn when your local shop/supermarket reduces stuff and develop an eagle eye for the magic yellow stickers. i used to buy what i could find reduced and challenge myself to make something awesome out of it.
