Frump to Fab - Summer Solstice Sizzler

Right ladies, I have decided that I am fat, fat, fat!
The jeans I have on today haven't beem worn for about a year and whilst they still do up they are considerably tighter than the last time I remember wearing them:mad: They are Levi 501s and used to be my favourite jeans but are only used for knocking around the house now but they are a wake up call.
I am giving myself 2 months (8 weeks) to lose 10 lbs (would love it to be a stone but think thats a bit ambitious).
That would get me to a respectable weight to go on holiday (still haven't booked it but am going to finance permitting).
Now, simply dieting won't get me results as quickly as I would like - SW does work for me but I am keen to speed it along a bit faster.
So, the plan is as of tomorrow I'm back on the food wagon (no excuse now visitors have gone) and I'm going to devise an exercise program for the next 2 weeks then assess how I've done and revise it if necessary. Dog walking is all well and good but I do that every day and its obviously not helping shift the flab. Start weigh in will be tomorrow morning:eek:
I'm off abseiling tomorrow (just rang to check its still on with the poor weather and apparently it would take a hurricane or 6 feet of snow to stop it ) so that can be tomorrow's effort.
Here's the plan for this week......
Today (to get the ball rolling) - exercise DVD (30 Day Shred, day 1)
Sat - abseiling
Sun - 30 Day Shred
Mon - day off (back to work and late meeting), or 30 Day Shred if I feel up to it
Tues - swimming
Weds - 30 Day Shred
Thurs - swimming
Fri - 30 Day Shred
So its my own little bootcamp:rotfl:
Wish me luck..... I'm off to do the DVD now before I lose momentum;)0 -
Hi all,
Seems a little quite on here lately so hope everyone is well x
Yes - we are a bit thin on the ground at the moment. Hope you are all ok.
Weather dreadful here. Freezing cold, am wearing three layers and have the heating on. Well - I have been advised to keep my back warm.:D
Physiotherapist was rather shocked today at just how I'd stiffened up and how my muscles were so tight and inflexible - not much movement at all apparently. Anyway had a good pummelling and then plenty of rest this afternoon and feeling quite a bit better now.
She's given me some different stretches to try. They are quite hard to do, have to hold the stretch for at least 10 seconds and do them every couple of hours or so - seem to be helping though so worth the effort and getting past the pain barrier.
Had some good news about Mum. They are transferring her to a small cottage hospital nearer to where they live for some rehab, so it sounds as if the stroke hasn't done too much damage.
Other than that not much news - not much fabbing or house fabbing either - just nursing the back and trying to eat properly.
I have been invited to a book group on Monday night so am hoping I'm fit for that. It's only local - just a couple of minutes in the car so shouldnt be a problem. If I were fitter I could walk. Not much but it's a start on my new social life.
I've also been asked if I would like to join a choir: I'm thinking about that one.....I used to have a decent voice - not sure now:o.
WW - glad you enjoyed your time with your mum and sister. I agree though it's nice to have the house back to yourself again afterwards.
PP - speaking of the Royal Mile - I have lots of fond memories of Edinburgh - such a beautiful city. Many moons ago I used to live in Helensburgh, another pretty place (25 west of Glasgow on the Firth of Clyde). I loved Glasgow too - ok maybe not as posh as Edinburgh but still some lovely elegant buildings and parks.
My SIL now lives about 30 minutes south of Edinburgh and I keep threatening to visit her one of these days, especially now FIL lives with her.
I'm sure you'll make a great job of the wedding photos - you've got a good eye.
Lizzie - glad you enjoyed your frugal day out - I feel really sorry for all the children off school this week - the weather has been dire. It'll probably perk up when they are back at school.:rotfl:
Anyway time to do some more stretches - mustn't sit at the computer for too long in case I seize again.
Did you remember it was Fab Friday. I'm wearing a nice bright zingy lime green top - unusual choice for me but I like it.0 -
WW - Enjoy the abseiling - should be fun.
Good luck with your mini bootcamp. 10 bs in 8 weeks should be do-able. I really need to do something like that too - when my back is better.......
My physiotherapist has now started a blog with exercise tips and advice - I will try and find it and post it up.
She really knows her stuff - she has worked with the Derbyshire Country Cricket Team and will be one of the team of therapists working at the Olympics.0 -
Gasping........
I managed Shred Level 1 without stopping but have a feeling I'll be stiff tomorrow! That Jillian Michaels is a pain in the bum but she keeps you going.... just.
So I've made a start - only problem is I'm flipping starving now:rotfl:
Glad to hear about your mum LL and that the physio has helped a bit - good luck with the book club too - what's the book?0 -
Good evening everyone,

Hello everybody,
I've not much "news" really. Just trying very hard to manage everyday health. One very bad day recently caused me to be very "self-critical". However, days like these are very revealing in highlighting where the problem (probably) began and consequently not feeling "fab" generally. Anyway, still following your posts thanks. Good luck.0 -
After feeling quite fed up this week I feel much better today even though its a very grey autumnal day here. Took the dog out for a nice long walk this morning, then walked up to the supermarket for a few bits and then back home.
Need to zoom around cleaning and the rest of it ready to wait in for the hot water to be repaired this afternoon. Can't wait for that and planning a lovely pampering bath to make up for the lack of hot water this week!
Weigh in STS this week however have lost some more inches which was a bit unexpected. Its another inch gone from my chest and another half an inch from my waist taking it to 5 inches from my waist in a year and 6 inches from my chest.
For all of us on the weight loss route - remember stick at it and you'll get there. A flash in the pan never works in the long run. Its taken me over a year to get here and its worth the time its taken

Hi Everyone
Brrrr it's cold outside.
Just back from seeing OH - managed to drive ok and my back feeling a tad better today. Getting there:D Just need to keep up with the exercises and stretches and take it steady- didn't do anything silly like helping the carers or nurses today.
Well done on the inch loss Sparkles - you have done really well. You've worked hard and deserve the new svelte you.
I'm getting back into the Fabbing Groove - gave myself a face mask this morning and made sure I dressed nicely to visit OH.
Which reminds me - we didn't do any "X's" this week.......0 -

I'm glad you're feeling a bit better LL
'X' is a hard one! How about 'xpress' yourself, but that is cheating :rotfl:This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Well done Sparkles! Bet you look so different to a year ago?
LL - good to hear you're on the mend.
Just back from abseiling and had a fab time even though it poured down and was really windy. It was near Matlock Bath - isn't that somewhere near your neck of the woods LL?
Never been there before but even though it was raining I could see how nice the area was - drove through Buxton, Bakewell and Matlock to get there - seriously had to fight myself on the way back to not stop for a Bakewell Tart from Bakewell:rotfl:
I will be stiff tomorrow though - I conveniently forgot that to abseil down cliffs you have to get to the top in the first place.....kn*ckering!
Did the weigh in this morning and now know where I'm starting from - to lose a good stone would do me no harm:o
Have been quite good today with food - salad wrap and an apple for lunch and a small flapjack for breakfast for the energy to get me up the cliffs! The session did last 4 hours so hopefully I've burnt off the flapjack? I've also walked the dog for an hour today, had to before I sat down because I doubt I'd get up again otherwise:p
If I feel up to it later I'll do day 2 of the Shred DVD - there's 30 altogether and you're not supposed to have a break to see maximum benefit - will sleep tonight:).
I'm off on a tour of the new BBC studios in Salford tomorrow morning with the Spice group. At least its a more gentle social activity!
Right, need to make some proper tea (after a day in the cold I need something hearty and filling) and have a sit down for a while.
Hope everyone has a good Saturday evening....0
