He's proving to be a real sweetheart (Jasper that is, not Mr LW) and as long as he has his ball and plenty of cuddles, he's happy!:DIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Jasper is lovely! Look at those big brown eyes! How could anyone resist him?:)0

LL Not sure what your diagnosis is - I think I've missed some posts while in early stages of recovery.
R
Don't have a proper diagnosis as such. Had some blood tests a couple of weeks ago. I thought it was just wear and tear (tbh I still think that) but GP wants to see if there is anything nasty going on.
Basically there are two problems.
1. Had a riding accident when I was 13 and most of my original back problems stem from that.
2. I have wrecked my body by continually lifting my husband, as you say especially elbows, but also chest wall, lower back and neck. The knees are probably just normal wear and tear.
The movements involved in handling OH were a combination of lifting, bending and twisting - all at the same time and therein lies the problem. In addition the phsyio thinks most of the inflammation was caused by overproduction of adrenaline and cortisol which the body produces to help us deal with stress.
In my case the period of stress went on for too long and she thinks that my endocrine system is now compromised. The GP is now double checking everything.
I am desperate to avoid steroids, and respond badly to inflammatory drugs - hence I am trying a natural approach.
I've have used natural and complimentary medicines for years with great effect. However, I was so tied up with caring for OH that I forgot to care for myself, which is why I'm in so much trouble.
I'm just now getting back into my proper routines and am slowly starting to see some improvements. However, most natural medicines take a lot longer to take effect. Zapping the problem with steroids and swallowing handfuls of drugs would be quicker but I prefer to take a longer view and aim for better all round health.
I was just a bit fed up with being in pain and being restricted as to what I can do that's all and that's why I was asking about pain relief. I was being impatient and just looking for short cuts.:rotfl:
I too use a copper bangle and I think its very good, also copper insoles for shoes - these need replacing. I have been without them for some time and I'm noticing a difference. Cod liver oil and glucosomain keep my knees ok, losing a bit more weight is needed there.
As I say I stopped doing all this for several months and I think this is why I'm struggling just now.
My new experiment is with something called "Serrapeptase" a natural anti-inflammatory derived from silkworms. I've been taking it for about 10 days now and my elbows and knees seem much improved. Apparently it's used widely in the Far East and some GP's are now starting to prescribe it. It's worth me persevering with this for a while because unlike anti-inflammatory drugs it doesn't upset my stomach. Regular physic helps too.
Anyway enough about that.
It's good to "see" you back. I bet you're glad that your surgery is over now. Hope all is well and that you continue to make a good recovery. When the weather improves again, get out in the garden and lap up some of that glorious sunshine. It's the best medicine there is. :rotfl:
WW - glad your evening went well. Hope tonight is as good. You're turning into a right little party animal.
Maman - Not sure when you are off toDevon. Have a great time and don't forget you are allowed a pasty now and then.;)0 -
I'd sleep brilliantly if it wasn't for dogs or children <rollseyes> I feel cream crackered after a week of broken sleep. Kids have been poorly, dog has been getting me up at 4am.....all caught up on me. Consequently house looks a mess, behind on the washing etc. must factor in some pamper time over the weekend. Haven't been doing my yoga either.

I'm off in the morning and I will have a pasty (but better not have a hot one;)).
Thanks for the photo LW, I caught myself saying 'Awww' and I'm not even a dog lover.
Have a good weekend everyone, whatever you're doing.0 -
Have a lovely time maman x0

Evening all!
Just back from the pub quiz and again I had quite a nice time.
The ladies were a bit older than me but were very welcoming and made me feel at home. Its getting easier introducing myself to strangers and taking the plunge. I'll go again but probably not every week when I'm working as its quite a late night. They asked if I'd like to go out with them on Saturday night but I had to cry off - I can't afford every offer of a night out! Saying that though, last night cost me the grand total of £2 (a diet coke) and a massive £5 tonight:rotfl: for 2 drinks and entry to the quiz. But I do have the horse riding on Saturday too - so I'll have to be selective about what I do financially.
Just goes to show that if you make the effort that its not that hard to do something new. Not something that I was ready for (post divorce) a few months ago but it somehow seems ok now.
I forgot tomorrow was a bank holiday so my plans of doing the banking and the library will have to wait until Saturday if I can squeeze it in before the gee gees.
Off to bed now to try to sleep - fingers crossed.
PS Have a lovely break Maman0 -
Morning all,
LL - I'm definately a night owl as well, when I'm doing my own work I tend to drift towards 'working hours' from late morning/lunchtime until early evening and then stop up late and I find it works a lot better for me. I'm not good with napping though, I tend to find if I've not sleep well I'll feel exhausted until around tea-time and then come round a bit and struggle to even go to bed early - and then of course I feel the same the next day as I've not caught up.
Rosetta - hope the recovery's going well x
LW - he is just gorgeous, who could resist those big eyes? - I bet he gets spoilt rotten :rotfl:
Bitsy - hope everyone is feeling better so you can get a bit of (relative) peace
WW - glad the pub quiz went well (did you win?) Completely agree that there are always things out there if you want to do them, and don't always have to be expensive. Like you if I've not got much money I just have a coke but can still have a fun night out - don't really get those people who if they don't have like £30 to spend on booze don't think it's worth going out. Anyway, enjoy the horse-riding tomorrow - am a little jealous, I used to ride when I was younger but not been for years and rather miss it, am sure you will have a great time
Anyways, last night was ok - the band were lovely, they were a blues/folk duo so he played guitar and she played harmonica, which was a little different. The place was awful for photos though, really really dark - was lucky I took OH's camera as a backup as the slr wouldn't pick them up and had to use a flash on the other one, so was probably blinding them every few secondsPlus the place was quite small and they had been given a tiny corner - fair enough, only 2 of them - but was right next to the bar entrance, the kitchen and the toilets so wherever I stood I had people tripping over me and was getting in the bar staff's way. Plus they had mirrors, pub piccies and menus behind them so not the best background. Ah well, suppose it's all experience and hopefully will get a few decent ones out of it. Oh, and on the way home I saw a fox! Think this definately brands me as city girl but have never seen one in real life before, he was only about a foot away and just staring straight at me - he was so cute!

hi,
WW- I'm a bit jealous re the horse riding too- was going to go with my daughter on a deal I got on internet (part of my doing more stuff resolve), but unfortunately deal runs out soon and my shoulder and finger aren't in good enough shape to risk it.:( Have fun
PP- went to see the Hunger Games with DD. Wasn't expecting to enjoy it but I actually did, though agree the ending could have been better. Not sure it should have been a 12A though. Think a 12 perhaps more appropriate.
LW- Jasper's sooo cute
Nothing planned for Easter here except a bit of R&R.
Have a good Easter everyone- xFrump to Fab - Solstice Sizzler
