How much of the £3K is mortgage/Rent, council tax, loans etc which have to be paid no matter what.... and how much of it is on spending on food, clothes etc. where ther savings can be made?

Just over 2500 on house costs (mortgate, water, gas, electric etc) insurances, savings, contact lenses etc
(600 of this is a mortgage on a flat we own but we then get back in rent)

then 700 on food, clothes, petrol for my car (oh has a fuel card)

i really want to lower it though as its a mad amount of money to spend each month especially as its our wedding in 7 months!

Ok totally Off topic, but as the thread is slowish tonight thought i would share - we have decided that we need to lower our expenditure so have just been working out our monthly outgoings each month and it is over 3k!!!!

I cant believe its so high!!!

How much roughly is your monthly outgoings?????

Katie, I would recommend starting a new thread here http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=76 where loads of people will help you out. They will most likely ask you to post a SOA (statement of account) which you can do on here http://www.makesenseofcards.com/soacalc.html and then post to the thread

Hope you get the help you need but remember, it is not how much your outgoings are that is the problem, it's whether you cover them with you income ;);)

Send a postcard (and make a sick child smile)
This was posted just after Christmas but cards and little gifts can be sent all year

Did you get a present you feel you can spare and give away for free? If you have something that you think could have a new home or have spotted a bargain in the sales then please consider sending it to a seriously ill child, their sibling or their parent or the family of a child who has passed away.

Just log onto www.postpals.co.uk click “find a pal” then have a read of their story, it lists their interests and ages so you can see who would like your gift, the siblings (or parents) on the memorial section who have an address on their page would loved to receive.

The New Year can be a very difficult time for anyone but its especially hard when your ill.

Totally off topic but found this post while surfing and felt humbled by it - so if anyone has any presents unwnated or in duplicate or freebies from DTD. I spent a night in hospital last week when my little boy broke his arm and cant imagine what it would be like to have a long term illness - the impact on a family the other children must be immense.

Oh God - preaching over!! Sorry

yes 34 years ago. Labour started 1 hour after I took it. I was in labour for less than 1 hour. He just "slid" out. I have always felt a wee bit guilty that maybe he should not have been born on the day that he was, but he is a brilliant guy with an amazing family of his own now.
