Diesel on its own, for me to go to/from work each month, is £220. Switched to diesel car 18 months ago, to save on petrol cost. So it's helped, but still huge outgoing for me :(

Ever considered running on vegetable oil? or even waste vegetable oil? or if it's an older car, waste engine oil?

Veg - Simply pour it in your tank

Waste veg - needs filtered and what not before you can pour it in your tank

Waste engine oil - requires a bit more filtering and a small bit of outlay but if you have a friendly local independent garage you could get the oil free from them.

    :)

Just over 2500 on house costs (mortgate, water, gas, electric etc) insurances, savings, contact lenses etc
(600 of this is a mortgage on a flat we own but we then get back in rent)

then 700 on food, clothes, petrol for my car (oh has a fuel card)

i really want to lower it though as its a mad amount of money to spend each month especially as its our wedding in 7 months!
You can't include savings as an outgoing, or the mortgage covered by the rental income......so it's not quite as bad as it first appears. You could also possibly save on your heating and electricity if you compare prices on uswitch.
Shopping at the right time can save you a small fortune. Whoopsies account for virtually all my meat, bread and fruit and veg. BOGOF's or glitches for cleaning stuff and I never pay full price for clothes!!
I HATE paying full price for anything!
My husband says he will leave me if I don't stop shopping......... God I will miss that man.

yes 34 years ago. Labour started 1 hour after I took it. I was in labour for less than 1 hour. He just "slid" out. I have always felt a wee bit guilty that maybe he should not have been born on the day that he was, but he is a brilliant guy with an amazing family of his own now.

It is amazing stuff!! See, the old tricks work the best! :D

oh and first wine review, An impressively rich and concentrated, yet rounded red, with flavours of cassis and black wine-gum :rotfl::rotfl:

that red sounds nice ..... I might try it myself another evening ;)

It really would be worth you checking out that forum - I used to spend all my time there and offer advice when I could - there are some fantastic people on there who will give you advice on how to cut your outgoings

As for those who have very different outgoings, as I said, it is not the amount you spend that matters ...... it is having a surplus from your income and not a deficit ;) Everyone's income/expenses will be different, but staying within your income is the trick ;)

I wouldn't dare try this! Want to be safe, get there and back in one piece, and have the accelerator power when needed!

Sorry, but I don't feel she was taking the pish.

Changing spending habits is hard to do for most people. And different people will have different levels that they are comfortable reducing outgoings to.

But reading the thread that was hilighted, would bring some useful ideas forward.
