that red sounds nice ..... I might try it myself another evening
It really would be worth you checking out that forum - I used to spend all my time there and offer advice when I could - there are some fantastic people on there who will give you advice on how to cut your outgoings
As for those who have very different outgoings, as I said, it is not the amount you spend that matters ...... it is having a surplus from your income and not a deficitEveryone's income/expenses will be different, but staying within your income is the trick
We can afford it, none of the expenditure is debts, we clear the credit card (tesco one of course) each month, i just think its mad to be spending so much!!!!
Im going to start trying to get more whoopsies as i know this will lower our shopping, and i also currently cook 2 to 3 different meals an evening so will stop this and it should help!
Thanks for all your help and sorry for taking the thread off topic!0 -

Veg - Simply pour it in your tank
Waste veg - needs filtered and what not before you can pour it in your tank
Waste engine oil - requires a bit more filtering and a small bit of outlay but if you have a friendly local independent garage you could get the oil free from them.
we used veg oil in our old diesel car and motorhome and saved loads of money, it was fab but now we have a petrol car and its killoing me paying full for petrol. I feel gutted everytime i fill upHello my name is nahteb20 and i am a T's Glitch & Bargainaholic.......0 -
I wouldn't dare try this! Want to be safe, get there and back in one piece, and have the accelerator power when needed!
Well, I looked in to this A LOT when I was looking to buy a Land Rover Defender and everybody on the Land Rover forum that was doing this said they noticed no drop in power and that their engines ran smoother and were better off running on veg. If you google it you will find it's more common than you think.
Diesel, unlike petrol is actually an oil, therefore it doesn't combust (explode) in the engine like petrol does. Diesel burns and veg and engine oil are, well oil, and burns equally as well, if not better.
A quick google brings up this http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/personalfinance/8396085/How-to-run-a-car-on-cooking-oil-at-18p-a-litre.html They are running on waste vegetable oil but new vegetable oil can be poured straight in to the tank.0 -

How many do you feed on 100 a month?
there is 2 adults - me and DH, and 2 kids.
we eat 3 meals a day, plus have treats... on an average week (few weeks ago menu), this would be something like our food menu -
Monday - Breakfast - Cereal/toast/pancakes/crumpets (bread, pancakes and crumpets are usually whoopsies)
Lunch - tinned soup (or leftover veggies from sunday dinner made into home-made soup)- 2 tins between 4 of us - lots of whoopsied or homemade bread to fill us up.
Dinner - Pork chops, mash, veg.
cheap/home-made biscuits/cakes/whoopsied fruit through the day/week.
Tuesday - Breakfast - same as Monday
Lunch - Sandwiches n crisps, yogurt - whoopsied bread and yogurts
Dinner - Fish n chips from chippie
Weds - Breakfast - same as usual.
Lunch - Pasta with sausages.
Dinner - Spag Bol (whoopsied mince)
Thurs - Breakfast - same again
Lunch - Tortilla Wraps with leftover spag-bol and cheese inside.
Dinner - Homemade shepards pie (whoopsied potatoes/mash)
Friday - Breakfast - as usual
Lunch - At Nannys house
Dinner - Fish Fingers/nuggets chips n beans
Sat - Breakfast - same again
Lunch - pasty/sausage roll of some sort from Greggs.
Dinner - stew (whatever i have left in the fridge)
Sunday - Breakfast - same.... again
Lunch - Chicken Dinner (whoopsied veg etc)
Dinner - sandwiches with leftovers from lunch.
I make lots of my own things, like bread, biscuits etc.... buy whoopsied veg and freeze it, or cook it n freeze it for ease (like mash potato)
i very rarely throw any food away, even if its a little amount, just bung it in a freezer bag n freeze it or keep it in the fridge...
never seem to get much whoopsied meat, but always loads of veg.... and i buy lots of herbs/spices/sauces to change the flavours of stuff to make it more intersting.
If we can walk anywhere, we will.... our limit is half hours walk away - if its further than that, we will take the car..
Gas and electric are on meters, so we know exactly where we are and can never overspend.
any old clothes/shoes/brick a brac we have, i take to a clothes shop that buys them from us by weight - works out about £5.00 per bin bag. i use this money for treats...
only have the heating on when its cold - for the kids... when they are in bed, all warm and cosy, we turn it off and snuggle under a blanket.. or go to bed and watch tv there. Lights are hardly on, on a night, just a lamp in the living room whilst we are up and a lamp at top of stairs for kids in night.
pay as you go mobile phones - hardly ever top up as free calls from house phone. only use when calls are free/low/local rate.
Hope that helps... sorry for waffling on.Proud Mummy to a new little girl - Phoebe... born 11 days overdue on 3rd Jan 2012.0 -

Lots of MSE peeps use it. There's a whole discussion thread about AF in the link and most seem to like it. I've never used it so can't comment, sorry.
