I have two cook books that I love for learning how to do basics. I don't know if you can get either of them still but they are
Delia Smiths' Complete Cookery Course
and
Margaret Pattens' 1000 favourite recipes.
Of course there are lots of good sites on the interweb too.
Channel 4's site, has all the Hugh Fernley Wittingsall (sp) recipes from the River Cottage series on there. They are great and do work.
Some sites I found that the recipe didn't work very well the first go round, so I didn't go back to those.
Good luck
31 hours overtime in one week. Ouch. Doesn't the working time directive come into effect if you are doing so much?
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Thanks for the suggestions Chev
will look up some you tubes, book etc ( i can see a library trip coming up ) and learn the basics I think
I don't think I breach any work time directive as it is taken over a longer period ie: 12 or 16 weeks or something ... I will admit though come Monday I will be shattered and ready for a break from work0 -

It's what I am doing to try and deal with my sugar addiction dragon, it started off that every shift I made it to work without buying any sugar I would transfer £1 to my mortgage as a well done for not having any sugar at work.
When I told mr el I forgot to mention the work bit and he was quite happy for me to continue paying £1 every day ( as opposed to every work day) so basically if I manage not to stuff my face with sugar I'm gonna shuffle £1 over to my mortgage as a well done el type thing ... Kinda like a pad only this way I have to NOT have sugar in order to be able to do it
Does that make sense or have I confused you more ? Sorry if I have0 -

Ah ha! Hmm maybe I should do something similar for alcohol? Not that I drink vast quantities but it would help boost the savings!Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup

The way I'm looking at it ... I'm not having sugar ( my addiction) and as an added bonus my mortgage is being helped to slowly disappear as a side effect
That's gotta be good ... Right ?
Maybe try an "alcohol addition" of your gonna add it to your savings0 -

mmmmm I could do it with Diet C*oke - since I've stopped smoking the consumption of that has spiraled totally out of control
Sure it's taking a good proportion of my grocery spends:eek:Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
2016 Sell: £125/£250
£1,000 Emergency Fund Challenge #78 £3.96 / £1,000Vet Fund: £410.93 / £1,000
Debt free & determined to stay that way!0 -
Ultimately we will be saving money NOT buying the sugar/alcohol/ coke and at the same time putting us in a better financial position through saving/ paying down debt etc
But most important .... We will be helping our health
To me that's a win win really
Yours could be a " diet dump" rising ... Although I'm sure there will be better names to use than that ... My heads currently on sleep time0 -
Well I managed a few hours sleep still tired but that's to be expected with broken sleep, hubby bought the mince so have Tilly tidied the account and sugar shuffled the sugar money ( I will NOT be purchasing any sugar today) got a quote in for the car insurance, it has went up no doubt due to the fact it's a 2ltr were driving now, they letter stated it would automatically renew the policy, so next weeks homework will be to try and get cheaper insurance, if I can even manage to save £25 or so I will be happy, anything I do save I will overpay
I have £26 left to spend on food till 15th February, although I do have £150 on my asda card so the £26 is aimed at things from the local shop like rolls etc
Think that's all for now, just ginna get up and have the last of the sausage casserole before heading to speaker club this evening
Hope your all having a good day0
