Snap!
And it's funny as I often (as some of you know) rant / ramble away about stuff on my diary that I'd be mortified if people in RL knew about but it doesn't bother me that the people I've met through MSE know .... does that make sense?Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
2016 Sell: £125/£250
£1,000 Emergency Fund Challenge #78 £3.96 / £1,000Vet Fund: £410.93 / £1,000
Debt free & determined to stay that way!0 -

Totally rising I feel the same
I think for me I have a few judgemental people in RL that are there due to relationship connections, I wouldn't tell them anything
Then I have some good friends in RL that whilst listen to me when I talk about being debt free ( including mortgage) dont share any interest in being so themselves, so I no longer talk to then about it all
Then I have people in RL who look at me like I am an alien for even contemplating becoming debt free, it's like eh life is for living why go without ... So I don't talk to them either lol0 -
Very few people know about my real circumstances - I just think the anonymity of this site means I can bare my soul which is kind of theraputic
I think it makes me face my problems as they are written down and out there and not being buried with my head in the sand.
Just keep swimming!0 -
Totally it's a dogs life, I think the old saying a problem shared is a problem halved also applies to here, when people have down days ( which we all do) we can come on here and know that some one will listen and often help with practical advice, and then at other times we return those favours0

I told some friends when I became DF and they told me how "lucky" I was - reality was I had stayed in, survived on one income and sold off stuff to make a bit extra while they continued spending.... Some of them have moaned about money but when I've offered to help they don't actually want to change anything not sure how they think it'll vanish otherwise:o
Newer friends are younger with no responsibilities so I avoid talking finances there too so basically what I'm saying is that you folk are the only people I feel comfortable talking to about this stuff:DMortgage OP 2025 £6750/7000Mortgage OP 2024 £7700/7000

Skinty you hit the nail squarely on the head, it's not luck that gets us to where we want to be, it's all the hard work and sacrifices, those nights out you didn't go on, those new clothes you hunted down cheaper, those meal plans you made, the checking of the prices of toilet rolls ... Luck had nothing to do with it ... Its been blood sweat and tears and bloody hard work ...
And I say well done your hard work has paid off I hope your mortgage debt disappears fast so that you can have that dream holiday ...

I don't feel like I'm suffering though El, there's so much I'm willing to give up but other things (like gym) that will remain as long as they are affordable. But that's another gripe with them " you spend HOW much on the gym?"
Lots of my dream hols are quite affordable! Tennants never though:D! quite fancy Cornwall this year but it's costing at more expensive than a week in the sun... more thinking/dreaming requiredMortgage OP 2025 £6750/7000Mortgage OP 2024 £7700/7000
