So I have a quandary ... No doubt one of many that I will have before my journey is through.

I checked the bank account hoping to be able to tidy up ( t.v license money hasn't came off yet grrrr ) and I noted that we got 0p in interest for the year... Don't get me wrong the account is the one we pay the bills with and the money dribbles out of it throughout the month but it takes the month for this to happen and the money can be languishing there for a while ( over the course of the year it will add up to a lot)

Now my quandary .. Do I keep the ease of this account ( online banking easy to use etc) or do I go with the money I may make from another account... Would I make much money from another account as well

This actually vaguely rings a bell that I have been here before and had this very same convo and obviously decided to remain where I am ... So maybe all I am really doing is venting my frustration about lack of interest on an account

I'm really enjoying this positivity that I feel just now about this challenge, it's so good to have my mojo back but I need to remember to keep posting when my mojo goes on holiday ( as I think that would help me get back to it much faster )

Now in other news ... As you know my health hasn't been good at all and I have been very frustrated with it ( and the dr etc) and I have had to stop doing excercise etc too many times for my liking... I've always wanted to run but I've had to put it off with everything going on

However Skinty has a wee challenge for herself for this year and I ( stupidly maybe :) ) asked her is she needed any help so ... We got to talking and we are going to do a half marathon together I am starting with C25K and am starting with park run .. I have signed up to park run and will go every Saturday that I am not working

Now I have Skinty and another mser to kick my butt ( now I know this mser's really name but not her Mse name so don't want to say on here for obvious reasons ) but I think tbh the more butt kickers I have the better so with that in mind Roll up Roll up to join the butt kicking gang :)

Hope your all well ... I'm in work again ... Never mind it's time and a half :)

A minor Miracle happened today ... The day shift arrived on time ... Of course the reason for this was due to the fact that she is one of the great workers ... But I'll take my good luck where I can get it :)

your boss definitely needs to put her foot down with the members of staff taking the pee and you should be reimbursed for your extra time as it mounts up over the month
the interest conundrum is a difficult one as there aren't many accounts that pay interest now and some of the ones that do want you to keep at least £1000 per month in to get any

you are totally right taxi it is ridiculous tbh, i think life will be easier work wise when i have a new job ... i dont think things are going to change, they havnt since the day i started even though there have been many many complaints about the situation nothing seems to change ... i just need a new job

well last night i did some thinking about parkrun, money, life, the universe and everything ( gotta love Douglas Adams )

i joined up park run and will be looking forward to a new challenge ... i was going to start my couch to 5 k today but have decided to leave it till after i have one my first park run as i want to have a base from which to measure my success ... so saturday no doubt i will be crying into my porridge ... but i will be sauntering around the park ( i cant even manage a fast walk :) )

today hubby and i went for a walk, we love walking and try and do so as often as we can, but our walking is more about chatting, getting fresh air and just relaxing more than any physical health benefits ... but it was lovely to get out and blow the cobwebs away :)

we bought the shopping trolley for £14.09 ( used the discount thing hubby gets from work so didnt pay the full price ) it seems sturdy enough and i think it will do the job nicely, so all we need now is the store to open in the village and we are good to go with that plan

have been speaking to mr el about our dreams regarding being debt free etc and yes i know he has been on board for a while ( he wasnt always) but it was good for me to hear in what way he intends on making the small changes he can, and i must say i had noticed them, its the simple things like " i have the oven on might as well cook a few things all together saves us burning electricity each time" the things like portion control , doing more home cooking compared to all the takeaways we had before ... i think the journey is much more easier and enjoyable if everyone is on board :)

we stood in asda and compared washing powder, i do use the soap nuts but i do find that sometimes we need soap powder as the clothes are more stained ... so there we were in asda comparing washing powder ( thankfully neither of us have sensitive skin) persil was coming in at 15.7p per wash and asda's own brand was 13.2p per wash so 2.5p per wash cheaper and it has the softner built in, we have never tried it before so i dont know yet if it is a comparable wash, and probably wont find out for a while yet as we have enough soap powder for a while yet,

but before having mr el on board i wouldve got the more expensive one as it is a "brand name" therefore has a guarantee with it and will clean the clothes better ( who was i kidding lol ) , now we are willing to experiment, its just these small changes that will mount up over time, these changes that are starting to become second nature and not in a constrictive way but in an empowering way ... empowering in the sense that if i choose to just spend 2.5p per wash less on my clothes ( and even more with the soap nuts ... think they work out at 3p per wash or something) then i dont need to do as much overtime and will have time for living

anyway i have waffled enough, just going to have a bowl of home made soup and enjoy the delights of a chasni tonight ( mr el is enjoying experimenting in the kitchen :)

oh i forgot ( this is becomming a habit ) i found out costco have a special on toilet rolls, but the amount we would spend on diesel does away with any real saving we would make, so i have asked son, mil and friend if they would be interested in buying them and sharing the diesel costs, they are ... so i will be buying a load of toilet rolls tomorrow :)

    such a boring life i lead:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

edited to add: have started a thread over on the bank account board asking for advice on current accounts, i think it would be nice to get rid of this niggle i have about the interest, even if the advice is stick with what you have £0 is an acceptable amount ... ticking that question off my list will answer it once and for all

it's amazing what we can cut to make a difference and every bit mounts up
  • El have you got a Home Bar*gains / Farm*foods near you?

They both do Nicky loo rolls which are fab (quilted & very soft!) £2 for 9 or £3.99 for 18 which works out at 22p / roll

Nearest one to me is around a 60 mile round trip ... I go every few months to stock up on stuff (loads of shops there!) and buy about 6 packs of the 18 loo rolls ... they must think I'm nuts!
