I know Butti ... There seems to be this belief that it's ok we're just the night shift and have no need to go home or sleep or anything

Maybe you should tell them you need to get home to get your kidney posted on Ebay!

So it's my last night shift tonight and I am soooo looking forward to having a few days off
    .
We have a new asda opening here in a few months, it's only gonna be a 10-15 min walk from our house so we will no longer need to take the car when we go shopping, however we will need something to carry the food in so I had a looksie and found a shopper for £15 and pennies reduced form nearly £17 ... I manged to get another 8% off using hubby's company discount ... It's not beautiful or anything but it's cheap and fingers crossed it works out for us

I'm reading some mfw diaries just now ( skinty is all grown up and moved over there :) ) and have noticed a few of them are talking about cash back visa cards ... This was something I had thought about before but put it in the back burner ... But having read those diaries it's kinda looking interesting again ... I would only really use it for diesel and paying the council tax ... I'm just concerned that we're going back down the visa route again ... We have done really well and not used the visa since we decided not to ... But cash back is tempting :)

Skinty is way older than you though :D

I would go for the card if you are confident you would pay it off each month but if there is the slightest doubt then stay away!

Can't believe you are off tomorrow night - don't they know it's Hogmanay? surely that's a mistake :D

You ain't older than me ... Or if you are you ain't by much me dear :)

I'm really enjoying reading the mfw diaries, although its still debt busting it's a very different mind set I find

Will think some more in the cash back visa idea ... Not sure if I totally trust us yet ... Maybe in a few months or so

Do you think? I find it much the same, some folk are really strict and some very relaxed, suppose there's a bit more of a balance as the interest is much lower and the numbers are so big it's not like you can be strict for a year or so and pay it off like some folk on DFW.

It does work, just don't focus on the cashback or you may end up with the "I spent £100 to get 42p cashback..." syndrome...

Since you have to spend to get it - it's never going to make you rich.

I think the difference I am seeing is more to do with just paying the one debt rather than a few ... It just seems more concentrated on the one rather than a few different ones... The processes seem the same ... But I've noticed that ( and I think it's due to availability of credit being easier) there is different types of challenges

The outcome for both boards is the same ... I just think in some respects the two boards do it differently ... But yes there are the same type if characters ( all nice of course )

Is you a youngster handsome ... Go in spill ... How old ;)

Yeah that's the thing it isn't a lot of money as a cash back ... But every bit helps and if could get say £50 a year or so .. Then that's something surely ?

It is. But depends on the rate - £50 at 1% cashback is an outlay of £5000. Most of your big expenses (like housing) can't go on it, which limits its usefulness somewhat.

It's a "every little helps" kind of thing, but saving £1 on your weekly shopping will match it.
