Great answer! I was gonna bookmark it and thought "Duh" it's just as easy to add it straight into the mega index, so I didHi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Hello all
I have an elderly cat who is litter trained but for some unknown reason decided to have a pee on my landing carpet. I've blotted up the pee with kitchen roll but it still pongs.
Any ideas on what I can use that firstly won't damage my carpet and secondly will get rid of the smell and stop her doing it there again?

sprinkle bicarbonate of soda on and leave for an hour or 2 then hoover it off:beer:0

i think you have to use a solution of biological powder to dissolve the protein in the wee, else they will keep going back to the same spot0
-
use fabric conditioner to stop them going to the same sport to wee again0

white vinnegar always used to work for my naughty cat - it stinks at first but then seems to neutralise the smell - clean it first thoughi'm living in a parallel universe0

There is a large section on carpets in the mega index. Here's the link. http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=2579596&postcount=3May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0

When we got ours from pets home they told us to use bio powder on the spot, then put a bowl with some food in it on the place for a couple of days because they won't foul their eating area so it stops them going back to the same spot. Once they start weeing consistently in the same spot, it soaks into the underlay and you won't be able to get rid of the smell for love or money (so speaks the person who has just had to take up a newish living room carpet and replace with wooden floor due to repeat offender cat!)0

Neutradol powder after the stinky patch has had a bit of a scrub with soapy water and dried. Sprinkle it generously and rub it in. Hoover it up after (leave it as long as you can). Cats dont much like pepper, so if you can put down some common old black pepper in the spot where she's pee'd hopefully she wont use that spot again. If you want to get ahead in the Rat Race then you will need some faster Rats !! :rolleyes:0
