I have found the dettol air sprays really good at getting rid of cat smells.
I think they work by killing the germs that cause the smell. A few weeks ago they were on promotion in Tesco, but I stocked up so haven't looked since.0 -
Not very old style, but if others are recommending chemical thingies as a last resort I don't feel too bad...
We have found the OXYclean powder scrubbed in and then rinsed out worked very well when all else had failed. You have to kill the bacteria which is what causes the smell. If you can, until you've identified the soiled area/s, try not to let the room get too warm (ie keep curtains closed before a viewing if the sun shines directly on it) or you'll get the waft back when you least expect it.
Once my tub of oxy is used though, I shall be trying more old style methods!Annabeth Charlotte arrived on 7th February 2008, 2.5 weeks early0 -

What happened to the kitten, did it come back, was it found, is it dead?0 -
Nope, was never seen again, we just don't know what happened to it. It wasn't a tiny kitten, it was about 6 months old when it disappeared. Such a pity as it was a lovely little cat with the fluffiest tail I have ever seen.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

Aww poor wee thing. I hope he was found and taken in by someone else. It's horrible when pets disappear. One of my cats was a "foundling" - the one in my avatar actually. He was a starving alley cat who used to run in my back door, vacuum up my other cats food (literally sucked it in, didn't bother chewing and when he lifted his head had a big ring of food around his face from having stuck his snout right in - funny/pathetic).
As long as there has been no body on the road then he's probably been adopted. Hope your daughter isn't too upset.0 -
You can buy a special cleaner from the vets - don't know it's name but your vet will, that is specially designed to get rid of the smell of cat wee, vomit, spilt stale milk etc. It costs about £10 but really does work in the way nothing else did for us. If you are interested in the name of the product, I can get it when I walk past vets on school run on Monday. It's got a picture of a rabbit, cat and guinea pig on front and come in a yellow container.0

Probably too late for you now but the absolutely best thing for removing "accident" smells, of the pet or human variety is soda water as it neutralises the acid in the urine whichis what makes the smell linger. I've used this for years and apparently the queen uses it too so I must be in good company! HTH0
