Penelope, I got lots of more help from that thread thankyou very much xxxOn a mission0

Any 'janitorial supplies' will have a urine odour eliminator chemical.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0
-
I bought a cheap pet odour eliminator from wilkinsons, about £2.50 for the bottel and it works a treat-cat has only had 2 or so accidents but she never return to the site since I used this.
Just wondered also if your cats are neutered? This seems to cut down on smell so would perhaps help in the long runRemember to always be yourself-unless you suck. Joss Whedon0 -
If the wee has soaked into the underlay, cut out that corner & replace with fresh underlay. Annoying, but I saw this on a Kim & Aggie programme, as there is nothing (apparently) that will get the smell out of the underlay.
Bicarb works well & sprinkle pepper on the area, or put down bubble wrap for a few days to prevent future occurrences.0 -
I second using the biological washing powder and avoid using bleach based products.0
-
Agree with replacing the underlay - unless it's a carpet with integral backing. I always save my practically empty biological washing liquid bottles and fill them with water to use for mopping hard floors and to deal with occasional 'accidents'.0

Neat alcohol (I use vodka) is brilliant at getting rid of smells like that - it works to break down the enzymes that cause the smell. It's also great for other whiffs like vomit, spilt milk, and so on. I just keep a bottle of cheap vodka in for that purpose alone. If the cat has pee'd just before you have visitors, a quick squirt of fly spray will dissolve the smell until you get round to dealing with it!KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

Alternatively, take a look at this older thread; I'll merge this later.
From OPs post I read its fairly important to her domestic arrangement as her partner is losing the ingredient patience. Having felt near to the edge of patience myself this winter I really understand this!
This winter with the feral in the house has been a real shock to my system. Though she is reliable now ''most'' of the time when she first came in we kept her in one room, and I was using bicarb. DH came out one morning and said that I looked like a mole among molehills of bicarb.:o and, for someone who tries to be house proud, it was just terribly depressing all the time cleaning and dealing with smell.
I've now decided dealing with a persistent problem is very different to dealing with, an occasional problem like an accident with an ill but otherwise clean cat.0 -
What can I use to clean cat wee off the carpet and get rid of the smell to discourage him from doing it again?? He was injured in a fight over the weekend and is scared to go out. I've reinstated his litter tray as a temporary measure but I caught him at it behind the sofa!! I have some herbs in the garden plus bicarb, lemons and plenty of ather bits and pieces. looking for something natural rather than chemical.
Thanks in advance x I'm normally a bit of a lurker and really enjoy reading all your posts, I'm pretty sure there's someone in the world of OS that can help me!!:beer:freecycler and skip diver extraordinnaire:cool:0 -
Hi lisa,
This thread has lots of advice that should help: cat's pee!
I'll add your thread to it later to keep the solutions together.
