I'm not bloody touching Pipe C, the one with the YELLOW tap on it!!!!
    He He.
Did you re-read Post 32 with my comments about turning the power off twice?
Yes - you don't need to turn off the power but if it takes your fancy be my guest.:D

Would this do, as there's a Screwfix 10 minutes from me, I take it I wouldn't touch that black valve/lever?, £8.99:

    Or this from Toolstation, £7.35:

    .

Either would do. Screwfix and Toolstation are rivals which may explain why they are both in the same retail park! Toolstation tends to be cheaper for plumbing parts.

You may find that you can purchase just the hose from a local plumbing hardware shop.

Or can I just use a shower flex as suggested in Post 9?

EDIT: There's a Toolstation in the same industrial retail park as Screwfix here in Rochdale, how weird¬!

Either would do - the TS image is reversed off course compared with the SF one. The black lever valve performs exactly the same function as the ball valve on your existing pipe work. Yes you could use a shower hose but I rather think it would be better to get the right item as above. Then you can stick it in the kitchen drawer when you've done all ready for the next time.

Oh BTW just to recall another posters post it isn't wise to overfill so that the PRV lifts although he suggests it doesn't matter. Whilst it is a fail safe mechanism once it lifts then the seating gets full of carp from the system and when it closes it inevitably doesn't reseat properly. That leads to it passing so that the system constantly loses pressure and once that happens its almost inevitable that you'll need a new PRV - that will require a visit from your local friendly heating engineer. 1 - 1½ bar when cold is fine. You'll find that as the system heats up it will rise to around 2 - 2½ bar. The PRV will be set to lift at iro 3 bar.

    Cheers

Looking at the photos you posted, it seems that your condensate trap is full (of gunk) and may need emptying. Can't be certain though just from the picture. The condensate trap is the small plastic container under the boiler.

I wouldn't advise emptying it yourself as the contents can be highly acidic.

Have a look at the little plastic container under the boiler in your picture:

I believe that is the condensate trap for the boiler.

But it was only serviced and tested on the 9th November

Don't forget I rent a council flat and the housing department subcontract heating and servicing to another local company. They obviously don't care about the people that live in the properties paying sky high rents :(

Why didn't they empty the condensate trap last month?

Oh what do I care, its 12.38am and I should be in bed for work tomorrow.

Thanks for the help guys! I appreciate it. I'll be posting tomorrow asking how I open the bloody packet to get the loop out!!!! Ha ha :)

In which case if it needed emptying they would have done so.

If it needed it they would have done so. "Looks like" and "is" are not the same quantity. I'd not concern myself with it TBH - as its a bit of a diversion to the main aim and that's been something of a marathon this evening. :D

Funnily enough I was about to ask if we've done and its all right for me to go to me scratcher now.

    Au plaisir.
