you could get the council round to see the state of the house, they can force LL to do the necessary repairs.0

I was about to suggest a balaclava.
this also works for me.When my nose gets cold, even when i'm in the house, I put on a scarf over my nose and my breath warms it up.
oh yes please!!!Please get an egg cosy and some elastic and post a picture. :rotfl:
I also hated the thought of an electric blanket, but DH just bought one anyway, and now I really miss it when we're away. I still feel a bit nervous about it though.I would if it were just me but OH hates the thought of an electric blanket. Weirdo that he is.
Mind you I could always get a single overbed type for my side and refuse to share if and when he gets cold and changes his mind about them.
Suppose I'd better go and leach the remaining heat from DH to me though. My nose is also cold, and I daren't mention it to him, because he'll tell me that using my Secret Santa present would help warm me up.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Have you actually contacted the landlord regarding the heating? Unlike the cracked window, landlords have a legal obligation to ensure the heating is in working order. Of course if no engineers are available to fix the problem then you'll have to wait - but why not get the ball rolling now rather than sitting in the cold whining?MSE aim: more thanks than posts :j0

It reminds me of the nipple warmers, I'm not sure if NZ Nature still do them, and I've no time to check now. Seriously, possum fur nipple warmers!Signature removed for peace of mind0

Going back to the boiler, unless the law on this is different in Scotland, the landlord has a legal responsibility to have it serviced annually. Do you think this has happened?Signature removed for peace of mind0

OK, I've just found the possum fur nipple warmers. I'm sure you could adapt one as a nose warmer.Signature removed for peace of mind0

There's a thread about this ... seems like there's some disagreement as to legality.
Regardless, I doubt very much this boiler has been serviced (judging by the condition of it).
It kicked in again hours after it went off. Then it went off again. It seems to need a number of hours rest after working for a short while.
I'm not even sure there will still be parts for it so it will be interesting to see what the repair bloke says.OK, I've just found the possum fur nipple warmers. I'm sure you could adapt one as a nose warmer.
It makes me itch just looking at them. :rotfl:Herman - MP for all!
