......Has been a couple of weeks at least since the last one.
I'm sat here with a frozen nose and I'm fed up. I can wear gloves to heat my hands up, slippers and socks to keep my feet warm and all manner of fleeces or throws to deal with the rest of me, but there's very little you can do to stop your nose from freezing.
I've also had earache for the last couple of days but it's just the kind you get if you're out in the cold too long. Only I'm indoors.
The radiators have not been warm since lunch time so I suspect the heating has finally packed in. I don't think the boiler has been serviced in years, it has a thick layer of dust and sticky yucky stuff all over it so it's clear it's not been touched in ages.
There's no way LL chappy will get someone out before Xmas, we're still waiting on the cracked window being fixed and that was months ago now. We've got a couple of oil free radiators but the house is big, old and not insulated so I suspect we will all be hunkering down in the one room like they did during air raids years ago. :rotfl:
I suspect I will have to up my alcohol intake, just to increase my warmth aspect you understand.
2012 had better be my year I tell ya!

The preparing for winter thread over on the Old Style board has cheap suggestions for how to keep the house/yourself warmer...
You have my sympathies, I really feel the cold and couldn't cope with that. Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.
If you quote me, don't forget the capital 'M'

Oh dear! Poor you!
As well as blankets, fleeces and water bottles do you have candles? They make you feel more cosy and provide a (tiny, tiny) bit of warmth.LBM: August 2006 £12,568.49 - DFD 22nd March 2012

I think in 2012 you should have "move house" on your must do list!!
I have to admit our heating has been off for a couple of hours as we were overheating. Cooling down a bit now and I have a fleece over my bare legs so I'm okay!

Love it :rotfl:
It's a well know fact alcohol warms you. That's why St Bernards have those little kegs on their collars. :rotfl:If it's good enough for people rescued off mountains and the like, who am I to argue?Oh dear! Poor you!

Yes, got loads of candles. I can't warm my nose with them either though.

I have the same nose problem aliasjo. What you need is some nose muffs: glue a couple of fluffy face powder puffs to a swimming nose clip. I must warn you however, that I have patented this idea, so don't try and make a fortune out of it, as that pile of gold is mine:DI try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0

You need to do some snogging with your husband. That always warms me up. Erm, not me actually snogging with your husband, mind. He's probably very nice but I promise that I haven't met him.0

Earmuffs or one of those hats with the flappy ears bit? Perhaps you could fashion a little bit of fleece fabric and some elastic into a nosemuff Of course, don't forget to leave a gap so you can breathe! :rotfl:
And if anyone tells you how ridiculous you look, have a good glug of alcohol and tell them that you're a trend setter and nosemuffs will be the height of fashion next winter.
ETA Brighton Belle beat me to it with the nosemuffs idea!0 -
