Thank you! We were on JSA before so yes it is a big boost to our finances and self esteem. It was a relief to find jobs before Christmas.

  • What a fab thread OP :j:beer:
    2011 for me:

I had my LBM at the beginning of the year straight after xmas 2010...........(when all the bills came in :o )

DH & I have learned how to budget, cut our grocery bill by around half  managed to pay for a holiday, new car (ok only a caravan hol and a 10 yr old car but still....:rotfl:) in CASH.

We've lived without credit cards, loans, overdrafts for nearly a whole year now and we've got rid of around £3k of debt :T......i'm very happy because we haven't added to it, we've learned how to save for what we want (:o!)

and looking forward to 2012 and paying more debt off

  • This year paid off £17000 and I'm debt free (ish) but finally free.

Big relief after being in debt for over 10 years
  • What a great thread!

    this year I have:
    • Had my LBM
    • Spend £150 less on Christmas than I did last year
    • Met a nice young Man
    • Paid off my HP and now own my car outright
    • Registered as an Extra and made £200 already
    • Cut up my credit cards
    and the biggy
    • Learn't how to live within my means, no overdraft, no credit cards, no borrowing from parents until payday :T
  • My husband and I continue to be debt free.
  • This year I've realised my business as a driving instructor wasn't working, therefore had my LBM and since then found two jobs, one permanent in retail and one temporary in my previous field - Council Tax recovery (realise I'm not everyones favourite person ;-)) I've managed to consolidate most of my debt through a loan from my parents and I'm well on the way to saving towards my wedding in 2012!

I remember reading a lot of friends facebook status' in 2010 saying how they had such a bad year and couldn't wait until 2011 - at this point I thought they were mad and that life was rosey (how wrong was I). Now I can't wait until 2011 is over and looking forward to 2012!
I work in Council Tax recovery, any views are purely my own based on the information supplied.
