  • Who IS responsible though??? ANYone know- I purchased a deal which didnt live up to half the things it said it would, a 18 hole golf course with free food, drink and balls, didnt get any and only got 9 holes. Complained to groupon who told me to go direct to golf company, which I did only today but can foresee neither will own up, so who IS responsible??? Cos Im not going to fanny around with these incompetents, just go straight to small claims.
  • Hello guys, add another one to your list.

I got burned by a groupon carpet cleaner just before Christmas. He carried out a demo on two 1 foot squares at the entrance to the living room. A basic service wash (just water in my opinion) and then a 1 foot square with the cleaning products.

I had no choice but to accept the upsell to a premium wash as the clean patch would have made the rest of the room look ridiculous.

I should have learned my lesson but I've just been conned again with a groupon photoshoot through shootstudios.com . As I've mentioned here.
  • Had vouchers for an Italian restaurant in Glasgow. Every time I phoned them (as specified in the deal T&C) they had no bookings available and asked me to try again.

Voucher expired 1st August after being told again last week that they had no knowledge of the deal. The guy on the other end of the phone sounded clueless.

Going to phone them on Monday morning and see if I can either get:

    a.) A refund

b.) A replacement voucher for the restaurant if indeed there were genuine reasons why I kept on being put off

£11 down the drain. Sad times. :(

I don't think I'll be using Groupon again unless I get some kind of result from this.
  • Had a similar problem with Groupon, as some months had past between purchase and refund (though I actually asked them to push the merchant to supply) they tried to refund the monies to a closed account.

    Was for discounted driving lessons.

Now they are asking me to 'prove' that the money had not gone into my account. Merely stating that Barclay's had confirmed the monies had been returned 3 days later was not enough for them.

Turns out the merchant was also stung by them, was pressured to offer an unrealistic discount that he couldn't supply, and that they made no checks to ensure he could.

Supposedly they added £20 good will credit on top of my £8 'introduce a friend' Groupon credit. Not checked yet though. Partly as I have no desire to ever use Groupon again and partly because Google often reveals the same goods at the same price elsewhere online.

I'm going to initiate a small claims court action, and bring it to the attention of my MP -- as both I and the merchant reside in the same constituency. I'm actually inclined to claim for the full voucher value, rather than the purchase price of the voucher. I feel this is the only way to make online retailers (on this discount voucher business model) more vigilant on their ability to supply.

Oh forgot to say that Groupon paid the money into a closed account 3 days after they were told it was closed. Groupon are apparently sloppy and incompetent.
  • I see Groupon are now spamming customers with £5 discount vouchers which can be used their current offers.

Sounds too good to be true? It is. ;)

First of all the coupons are only valid for 48 hours. Secondly, the deals available whilst the £5 voucher is active are incredibly poor.

I've had 3 of these £5 discount vouchers over the past fortnight and none of the offers have even remotely interested me.

Groupon must be getting desperate. :p

I honestly don't think I'll buy anything again after the aforementioned Italian restaurant experience. About time Watchdog were doing a follow-up to their earlier investigation when the CEO appeared on the programme and promised to do better.

    Obviously it hasn't worked.

My boyfriend and I purchased vouchers for something which had no availability - phoned to complain and eventually they agreed to credit us within 3 days. That was a week ago and we've heard nothing...except ironically an email asking us to rate their customer service. Never again!

  • I purchased a product which was faulty, it just didn't work and I verified the fault with a retail outlet of the company who sells the product. I return it on the 5th October and after a week have heard nothing from Groupon. I contact them and it takes 4 days for a response to be told that it can take up to 30 days for a refund to be processed. I respond back saying how disgusted I was that a company can sell a defective product and then think it acceptable to take so long to refund a customer their money. They respond 3 days later apologising and now saying it can take up to 30 WORKING DAYS which is actually 42 days or 6 weeks to refund customers but they will chase the refund with priority.

It has now been another week and still no refund, so I call the customer services and was told that the warehouse had still not checked my return and authorised the refund. 3 weeks and still not been processed. Meanwhile, I return another online purchase to a different company, from the day it was sent to the time the money was refunded into my bank was less than 6 days, including the weekend, so was actually 4 working days, I did not have to email them once to chase the refund, they did it in an efficient manner that minimises the customers inconvenience.

Groupon of course offers some great deals, but they obviously do not care about customer service. Sooner or later, any customer could have a problem with their purchase and that is when you will see that this is not the kind of company you want to help stay in business. I for one will never purchase anything from them again, I would rather pay more to a company who deserves to stay in business.

Purchased a £290 mattress from Groupon in April 2014. It was supposedly worth £1000, which did raise my suspicion but had purchased from Groupon in the past without problem, so went ahead anyway. The mattress was made by a company called Happy Beds with the Registered Address: 26 Wharf Street, Dewsbury. WF12 9AT. The mattress stank of something like industrial oil so I complained to Groupon who eventually arranged to have the mattress collected on the 14th April via the courier Arrow XL . One week later and still NO refund so I emailed Groupon again and they are now saying they they will refund within 30 days once they receive delivery of the mattress. All very strange as it was collected a week ago. Could end up a small claims case.
  • I cannot believe the absolute down right lack of customer care with this bunch! I've used them plenty of times before but NEVER again after spending £569 on a corner settee and 3 seater which still hasn't came. They won't reply to my emails, I've received 1 email and no information or even a call to tell me its on its way

In the fine print, it says the delivery will be with you within 7 days, I ordered it on 5th October, have sent 3 emails, 1 reply which was useless and I'm so aggravated.

    Looking for advice and help!!
