I am talking about the letter I got TWO YEARS ago - well all got them for sure

It states what the WP is and how long its lasts and that you can only leave/finish when the DWP tell you

As per the letter that I now have saying...............wait for it

    the work programme is COMPLETE!!

No more appointments leads me to believe I do not have to go there again so oh hang on I AM FINISHED!!
you are finished because the provider confirmed that you are. if they said no wait you dont finish for another 2 weeks then you wouldnt be finished for another 2 weeks regardless of any letter from the jobcentre.

No they said I finish on the 19th but lets say it again

The WP last for as long as the DWP.JC says so, NOT THE WP!!

Completely wrong. The DWP regs state that the Work Programme lasts 104 weeks from the date of referral from the Jobcentre. It's that simple.

That's what I have been saying :rotfl:

  • Does anyone know if signing of the action plan is mandatory? I've read a FOI request online that says it isn't, yet my contact at the WP says it is and I must sign it.

Also, the things that we went through in the initial interview have been changed by them (only slightly but enough to make me look like a liar if I sign it). Apparently it's mandatory that I sign that too...I can't put my signature to things I haven't said.
  • Thingamajig, there are two issues with that. First, if what you see doesn't reflect accurately on what actually happened then obviously you shouldn't sign it. Discuss with them what it is that's wrong and get it changed. Once you're happy with it you can sign it if you wish.

Second, as long as you haven't signed the Data Protection Waiver that they try to get you to sign when you first go to them you don't have to sign anything at all. Now, it's important that you make it clear that you'll do whatever it is they are asking you to do (if it's reasonable, of course) but you can decline to sign. They almost certainly will threaten to raise a doubt against your claim if you do this but as long as you have proof that you were willing to comply (record the meeting covertly on your phone) you should not ultimately be sanctioned.

But you may have to go through the sanction process so you'd need to b able to go without your JSA for a few weeks until the doubt/sanction is resolved.
  • Thanks Jerry.

I haven't signed a thing yet, I'm very cautious about signing anything. The pressure is already starting though, phonecalls, it's essential that I sign them, when will I be signing them etc.

The problem is, I can't go without the benefit for weeks.
  • The problem is, I can't go without the benefit for weeks.

And that's exactly what they rely on to enforce your compliance. I'm afraid you'll probably just have to sign but still, make sure what you are signing is fair in your circumstances.

Much of what they try to enforce is negotiable but that obviously depends on how good you are at negotiation.
  • I like to think I'm pretty good, but I'm aware they can often use underhand tactics. Changing what I said shows this already. I'll phone them and explain I can't possibly sign it as it stands. And I won't be signing the data protection waiver, that's for sure.

    Thanks for your help.
