No they are not saying it to everyone at all as I have asked them what jobs do they have to put me forward for and they say none

I was told 'we do not get the likes of you in here'!!

Lots of other people get job interview and the like and are there day in day out and I am left alone as they can not help me get a job in accounts and how could they????

They don't even know the difference between industry and job function!!!!

They did not need to make anything clear as we were all told WE CAN HELP YOU which was a lie of course and no one that's not on it can see that at all.

the WP was meant to be tailor made for EACH PERSON but its one size fits all for the lowest person there

I agree, they're all told to do the same thing for every person. They don't expect people with skills, job experience, good communication/English or anyone smart. If they get anyone like that they don't know what to do. They lie and tell you they can help then they try and send you on courses.

They have no understanding of skills for other jobs. I've had the same kind of problem as you with them not knowing differences between things. You should try explaining the difference in coding languages and the difference in web development and tech support for software.

My first advisor used to argue with me about things and he always had to be right and have the last word. Luckily the ones since haven't, but they don't have any more of an understanding.

No not been on any courses and they are not doing the same thing for every person. I see people there looking in the yellow pages for companies and people setting up email addresses and not even knowing how to use a pc

They have never told me they can help me and that goes right back to the first day I went there when I was asked 'why are you are here'?

I wish at the start of signing on they'd told me you have 1 year to get off benefits before we send you to a work programme.

Not looking forward to what will happen after the WP if I am still job hunting, but the start of the WP was by far the worst thing to happen to me.
why what would you have done if you knew that????

Oh right, that really is rubbish. Well I hope it all works out for you :)

I was made to send out spec letters too. The advisor looked up companies on some online phone book and made me send them out. Turns out almost all of them were houses! They were mostly freelancers who obviously would never employ anyone - not that my advisor understood that -_- Luckily some were nice enough to send letters giving advice and wishing me luck, but anyone at all could have my CV now.
I don't need any silly advisor to look up anything for me as I have already a list of 70 companies to use so I email that to myself and write 10 envelopes and send them

they said to me 'oh you are very organised'

    Erm what prat wouldn't be???

I have already told them I email spec letters which is jus the same but this is costing them a fortune!! £10 already on my 20 letters.

I don't mean like proper courses, just sessions. Like interview techniques.

People do different things when there, but each advisor I've had has had set questions and tasks. Ask what you want to do, spec letter, sessions and then...well, doing nothing. Just waste time basically.

I think I was told by JC that the WP would help me. Not sure about the WP now that I think about it. I hate that why are you here question lol.

Well I had just left college when I first signed on and I wasn't quite as motivated as I could have been. May not have helped at all, I mean I still applied for all the jobs I saw, but maybe I'd have searched more sites, given more CVs out or something.

If not, at least I'd have been more prepared. Instead I went in to the JC one day, was told I was going elsewhere, had to sign a load of papers and next thing I knew I was stuck with a horrible WP advisor.

    lol

I didn't need or want my advisor to look anything up, but I had no choice and no way of checking what addresses were for. It wasn't until they'd already been posted and I got home and checked the list I found out most weren't offices.

Yeah, I hate to think how much postage costs them.

the amount of people coming off it without getting anything out of it shows they were not even trying to understand each persons individual needs or problems about getting work - everyone gets told "you are a special case we can't help you" They said the exact same thing to me

my advisor told me the DWP is in a contract with the Work Programme providers that it can't get out of - so basically all the staff on the WP want to do is go through the motions, keep the staus quo and get their wages at the end of the week

And now we are being treated as though that is our fault

Exactly. Except the part of never out of work lol. Having a great CV and cover letter really confuses them and, at least in my experience, they feel the need to rewrite my CV just to seem as though they are helping.
