You can not write I looked in the paper and for all jobs applied you need FULL details
Site you saw the job advertised
The job title
The job reference number
How and who you applied to and with an email address of the company0 -

A lot of websites don't use reference numbers these days.
They're a sort of redundant feature in a digital era. You don't need to tell the employer what the actual job you want is because your application is accessed directly from the advert.0 -
its about 50/50 from my application if they have a number or not. If I'm applying directly on a companies own website then they don't usually have a reference number, but if it's from a agency/third party site they do.0

It has nothing to do with telling the employer the job its the ref number so they can trace it back to that site
like this one
http://www.cityjobs.com/job/purchase-ledger-clerk-945811758?src=search ref number 193655-EC1234
or
http://www.cv-library.co.uk/cgi-bin/view-job.cgi?jobref=101385411 ref number APE-55852
IF anyone wanted to check I applied to these people they would say Miss so and so applied for ref number xxxxxx, did she?
Not did she apply for an Accounts Assistant role as they will say, what one? We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
