The Work Programme New Thread

Isnt that something like £400? Surely they wont make on that at all as therer are some poeple there a few times a week and soon that £ will be gone paid in fares. Ah thats why they are only giving people half price travel now even if you dont have a discount card.
Now, look at the Work Programme in practice. The hardest to help are parked and the providers more interested in those who would more than likely find a job on their own with minimum support. They have a high staff turnover and their expertise mainly consists of hiring below-par recruitment consultants. I mean let's face it, if the staff were any good at getting people into jobs, they would be working for an recruitment firm rather than a poverty pimp. The whole thing's a shambles and I bet £10 that in the next couple of years the providers will go cap in hand to the government pleading for more cash and with an election coming up the government will pay it.0 -

The taxpayer was originally not going to pay 1 penny upfront.

I strongly suspect that I have been parked. When I first went to them I was classed as job ready and they admitted there was nothing they could do to help me as I have good grades in GCSE English and Maths and my CV was good. They called me in every 3-4 weeks and made me do a "guided job search" (sit in their office for an hour every few weeks to use their computers and unreliable internet connection, which was so bad IE often timed out before connecting to the website) Then my health took a turn for the worse and I had to start claiming ESA. I had one appointment with yet another new advisor at the start of the year and I haven't heard a dickybird from them since. I did mention that there is a possibility that I will become a carer for my ill mother in law (my own health permitting) at sometime in the not too distant future so I suspect this is why I've not heard anything from them. Oh and they have recently moved premises and it costs a fortune for me to get to them now so it costs them a lot for me to get there now.
I'm not complaining though. If they aren't hassling me (because lets face it they've never done anything to help) I can concentrate on getting better and looking after my MIL.0 -
One last thing - also going over the fact I have to be available to travel 1hr 30 mins to and from work but no mention of the NMWWanted a job, now have one. :beer:0

I would interpret that as about 5 and a half miles (walking time). If they don't specify how you should travel, hardly your fault
It could be from London to Brighton if they wanted. We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
