It says that the Jobcentre will write and invite you to an interview if you have to join the work programme. I 've got a letter to attend on Thursday (my signing on day is Monday, annoyingly) but it just says for an interview. If it was about the work programme, would it actually state that in the letter? I seem to be having quite a few of these interviews', about one every 3-4 weeks. I've been out of work since November and am under 25, if that helps.

under 25's get hassled alot more by the jobcentre. they could be about to refer you to the work programme. if i remember correctly i was told under 21's refered after 6 months, under 25's after 9 months, over 25's after 12 months. longterm unemployed whatever their age get refered 3 months after the last course they did. this was a while ago i was told this so it could have changed.

Also you do not need to sign any form to get travel back

I now have it in writing, see what my adviser says next time..

How do these people expect to work with us in a positive manner if they work in such an underhand, lying way!

    Hi guys

I've been on the work programme for about a year now still havan't found me a job!

anyway I need some advise please.

I had a "primary school" training session at a4e I was 9 mins late... They said i'd have to explain to the job center why I didn't attend.. they rebooked me in to a different course the next day instead for something completely different irrelevant course... they put throw me on anyway thing..

anyway where do I stand with this? I did attend late by a little bit late.. no valid excuse late bus I don't think is one..

Because the job center allow you 10 mins if your late... to sign on...

I got the form through today explaing why i didn't attend and then it says on the back explain why you was late.. I don't know what to do they just santion you anyway!

really is a joke. (havan't missed any others)

    Thanks

What is the job of the work programme? To find the unemployed a job or to support the unemployed and provide them with the tools to find a job?

    Genuine question.

Is everyone getting referred to work programs once they reach the set time on JSA. Im sure its a year for over 25s but i was not sure if everyone goes on it or if its just randomly picked ones?

Everyone, as far as I'm aware.

Its an absolute joke because I was reading that only 3% of people on working programme actually find a job from it and the suppliers get paid thousands.

Well, it's supposed to be the 'support' part of your question. The only tools they provide wear 'advisor' badges :D

In reality it's just population control.

Hmmm, I doubt that figure (way too high). 3% may have found a job whilst being sentenced to WP, but how many of those found the job all by themselves with no help from WP whatsoever, I wonder  (answer= most!)
