An Asda van was tailgating me for about 5 miles last week and it's headlights were incorrectly positioned meaning it was constantly dazzling me. I adjusted my mirror but I could see the shadow of my head against the ceiling of my car.

If the headlights are miss alighned, then report the van if you can to the nearest store. The drivers have to carry out daily road worthyness checks on their vans before they take them out on the road as a legal requirement.

Big Dalton one apparently. Personally I much prefer Handsworth.

Slow down , tailgaters soon get the message when your doing 15 in a 30 zone and the car in front of you is far in to the distance ;)

Not answering the allegation at all. My insurance company have rung 5 times in the last 2 weeks apparently.

You need to go and kick some ASDA bottom! Firstly, get in touch with your insurance and ask them why they have made so little attempt to get in contact.

    Then...

Get on Facebook and Twitter, short description of your story (obvs even shorter for twitter) - nothing like a bit of bad publicity. Get onto Watchdog too!

And I'm even more suprised it hasn't gone to head office level, so give em a ring and ask them exactly who deals with this sort of stuff. It's terrible this is still ongoing!
There are few people whom I really love, and still fewer of whom I think well...

Wrong setting on a button resulting in lights causing problems for others on the road would have nothing to do with worthiness of a van. Especially if it was done on purpose, driver has a bad day, he gets his revenge on slow drivers in front, sticks his lights to the top hoping people will get out of the way. Complete waste of time reporting this to the store, not to mention that this will never be investigated, or if "investigated", correct driver found max will get is a "bad boy don't be naughty, haha someone complained" telling off.

Also, whist I am aware of ASDA overstating everywhere on their van books that it is a legal requirement to fill out the van check books before each round of deliveries, please state the relevant legislation or legal guidelines stating that it is actually required by law. Its merely done for insurance purposes and as a "If you get caught with a bald tyre and a busted brake light, don't tell us we did not tell you to check or made you take the van" thing. Otherwise its total bull. ASDA house claims it will legally protect drivers. I am yet to find a case where it did. Please tell me if a driver was speeding for a good period of time in a loaded van and eventually brakes failed and he killed someone, hows the book stating the van was in good condition or all the flaws noted would help him? If there was problem with the brakes in the first place, the van should not ne on the road period.

Therefore my point is, drivers dont fill out the books, or fill out when they remember or see some small fault or manager gets on their case and makes them just "tick through"

Further on the topic : All vans have trackers, and did for the last 5-6 years. That manager was covering drivers as$, and his own as$ - trying to avoid another addition to the accidents count as it reduces the stores yearly bonus target and his own.

Normally best bet would be to try to get insurance to battle it out. Considering the case above has witness statements, police incident number etc, the car should have been long repaired by insurance and really and legally no longer persons concern apart from agreeing to odd letter for insurance to proceed with court action or having to write another statement or maybe appear in court at extreme.

Its also possible to get some action from the ASDA House as was suggested. But time consuming and phone calls are not cheap.

I would be very surprised if insurance have not fixed the car by now and this is not going on for personal reasons? :)

or you just get overtaken ;) and annoyed even further. Do van drivers bother for long? I never seen one that does, too much work to do, too little money to care.

Best is just to ignore. If you gonna try to "deal" with every person/idiot on the road, you going to end up having a proper nerve wrecked life.
