    Funny how all the expert drivers talk of barging through and tail gating blockers (those who drive within the law)
    Well all I have to say on the matter, is it wont be long before you come unstuck, like all tailgater's and your super duper reverse rocket thrust ABS wont help as well, for one thing I can say in good expertise, is most motorway accidents are just about over before you even press your brakes, 100mph is 146 feet per second.

    @vax2002: I don't think anyone here has advocated tailgating anyone. That's a bad idea regardless of the speeds involved! The only thing that's been said that I've noticed is that slow numpties who fail to keep left cause tailgating by fast numpties. This isn't excusing the actions of the fast numpties merely stating that it happens. When it happens it puts everyone around in danger, including the slow numpty.

    As far as I'm concerned, both types contribute to any accident that ensues. obviously the tailgater has to take the bulk of the blame because they allowed themselves to get wound up and then did something stupid, however this doesn't mean that winding people up on purpose, which is what the L3 slow numpties are doing, is acceptable behaviour.

    @shipshape: Since you have stated that you keep less unless overtaking then you're absolutely fine whether you're doing 60 or 70! What I wrote above doesn't apply to you.

    I have already said what I do when I find a self appointed speed enforcer sitting in the outside lane at 15mph or more below the limit and I wish to proceed. I take position a safe distance behind him and turn on my right indicator to let them know I want to pass. Of course they are usually the same geniuses who never check their mirrors so it can be some time before I get a response.

    My speedo is correct, I don't drive a crap car.

    When was the last time it was tested at a DoT approved tachograph test center? Clue: It never has been tested, not even when the car was built.

    Every vehicle fitted with a tachograph OTOH has to by law have a calibration inspection and certification every 2 years and can only overread up to 2.5%.

  • When j go through them i travel at 50mph on my satnav while others are zooming past ,ive heard on a few car forums that changing lanes after the camera works so your in one lane for one set of cameras then in another lane before the other cameras come.
    Dont know how true it is and ill never try it as i like my clean licence

    To a degree

    Analogue tachographs must be inspected every two years and recalibrated every six years.
    Digital tachographs must be recalibrated every two years;

    In use tolerence is +/- 6 kph, so not only can you read low, unlike a car, at your permitted top speed of 56mph, it can be nearly 7% out.

    so when your tacho is showing 46, you can actually be doing the 50 correctly shown on the speedo of the car in front, if it's accurate, as a lot are, and your tacho is still within tolerence.

    I stand by my comments about you, though good comeback - if you are 12.

    I too don't understand the need to travel at the highest speed you can, and to make everyone in front of you move over so you can pass. I have a little chuckle to myself when i pull over to let one of these "special people" (who are much more important than me obviously) in their 4 x 4's usually, pass.
    My little Aygo will run for a week on the petrol they use overtaking me ! And i only pay £20 a year in Car Tax !
