Well, thats not really very fair - how could anyone possibly know what happened if they weren't there? Its impossible to have an 'opinion'.

I don't think you are being fair. :D

You know as much as I do. There's nothing else to tell, so even if you were there, you would still only have what I'd already posted, to go on.

(And let's face it, most of the disbelievers here have had an opinion about less. ;):D)

People have offered explanations to earlier postings, I just wondered why they had all gone quiet now.

If you're thinking its because you've come up with an example that's convinced us we're wrong, its not that!

I'm not going to bother contributing to this thread anymore because its pointless, not because you've stumped me! There are multiple explanations for your story but 'believers' aren't actually interested in hearing them, you just want to be scornful and accuse us of not having 'open minds', being a negative force, and so on.

Hence, I'm done with the thread.

I'm not sure if I have unwittingly offended you in some way but you do seem kinda determined to post 'against' me today. Perhaps that's just my interpretation of how you come across in reply to me, who knows.

I don't think I've been unfair on this thread and I certainly haven't been scornful, nor do I want to be. I thought I was discussing things.

You're fighting with someone who was genuinely looking for reasonable alternative thoughts.

    However, like you, I'm done.

MSE seems to be rather 'prickly' today and I don't want the mood to 'catch'.

    Merry Christmas.

Its nothing personal, we just disagree on two separate threads I didn't even realise you were the same poster until now, I don't really look at user names.

Nothing personal against you but given how strongly some people clearly feel I can only assume that further discussion serves only to promote disharmony and as I have some difficulties in my personal life as of yesterday there are other things that take priority over becoming the big bad wolf of a message board.

I said this on the religion thread recently, I'll say it here now - 'To the believer, no proof is necessary. To the sceptic, no proof is possible.'

Well, I dont think its unfair to say that if I was present, I might have a better go and explaining what had happened, without referring to the supernatural, than if I read a post about it by someone I don't know on a messageboard.

Perhaps, like Tropez says, people have seen that it causes confrontation and offends people, so have stopped offering alternative explanations. Perhaps they are out last minute Christmas shopping?
  • Fair exchange, I have loved reading these over the last few days.
My mother died at 7.30pm, the next day at roughly the same time I was standing in her hallway. She walked past me and up the stairs, as if she was going to bed. She didn't seem to know I was there, and didn't speak or anything. Also noticed she didn't really 'walk' as much as sort of float by? She wasn't a solid, but had sort of soft edges? I'm not describing this very well. Nothing in the least bit scarey or anything, this was my mum.
    A more recent one...
Very sadly a soldier was killed overseas, and his dog died the next day - it had a lot of coverage on the news. I was watching the news, when they played the video of the dog. My cat ran into the room, went over to the tv and stood on his back legs. He kissed the screen, the image of the dog - then ran out. We sat there and couldn't speak for a while. He has never done anything like this. Again, nothing scarey but something quite loving I think?

That is weird! I wonder why the cat did that? and for those who think animals cant see tv - they can! one of my cats loved snooker! one of my dogs loved pet food adverts (but she WAS a glutton). Perhaps animals can even sense emotion through tvs?
