Immediately after coming off the phone, I contacted my bank, in which I was to learn that Lifestylemoney had taken two withdrawls of £352, calculation to a total of £704 from my credit card. I did not receive the call at 5 o'clock.
The first thing to do is report the matter to your bank as an unauthorised withdrawal. The bank should then refund your account and any charges incurred. Do this promptly, though, so they can get the money back themselves. Even if they have missold to you that does not mean they should be the victims of fraud.
Then report the matter to consumer@claimsregulation.gov.uk explaining what you have told us here.
You can also report it to http://www.actionfraud.org.uk/report_fraud .
This should help get them closed down more quickly.0 -
I wonder if anybody has actually received a complaint from Lifestyle Claims. To date I have not had one referred to me.0

I have checked Lifestyle Claims' website. It is really a company called Client Connect Limited.
If you look here, its director is a Ryan George Stanton who lives at
14 Maenol Glasfryn
Llangennech
Llanelli
Carmarthenshire
SA14 8SJ
Of course you must not send malicious correspondence to him. On the other hand, telling him that his company has fraudulently taken money from you asking him for it back plus interest would seem reasonable.0 -
Hello again Magpie - thank you for this information! My letter will be on its way soon - as I wrote to Lifestyle with the text you posted here, and today a young man called Matthew informed me that, as my letter was outside the 14 days 'cooling off period' they would be keeping my money. I did let him know in no uncertain terms that I had sent their forms back - with a covering letter (and, of course, I have a copy of that letter, dated) by way of cancellation - and hadn't even completed the forms. He tells me that they have done everything legally and are totally within their rights to keep my £360, even though they have done no work with it at all.
I've emailed the MoJ again and have spoken to the Action Fraud adviser, who was very helpful. He suggests calling Consumer Direct on 08454 040 506 (9 to 5, sadly!) to get further advice before calling Action Fraud again to register it as such.
Are they really within their legal rights to keep my money? And .. .what happened to the 'fair and reasonable with clients' rule?0 -

'Matthew' is one of the Lifestyle Claims people, of course.0 -

No they are NOT.
I recommend you e-mail the following to [EMAIL="consumer@claimsregulation.gov.uk"]consumer@claimsregulation.gov.uk[/EMAIL] , [EMAIL="trading.standards@swansea.gov.uk"]trading.standards@swansea.gov.uk[/EMAIL] and
[surnameofyourmp].[firstinitialofyourmp]@parliament.uk
It is in red again so you know what to copy and paste but change it back to black as it will look a bit naff in an e-mail.
Formal complaint against Client Connect Limited, trading as Lifestyleclaims CRM16588
I wish to make a formal complaint against Client Connect Limited.
On [date] Client Connect Limited made an unsolicited telephone call to me. The caller told me that I was entitled to compensation for [details].
I have since learned it could not have accessed my personal data without committing an offence under the Data Protection Act 1998. It therefore now appears that the caller was lying and, therefore, in breach of Client Specific Rule 1c of your Conduct of Authorised Persons Rules 2007.
Following the call, Client Connect Limited immediately took £[amount] from my bank account. Clearly this is in breach of Client Specific Rule 11 because I had received no written information about the contract I would be required to enter into.
I have written to Client Connect Limited to complain about this and received a telephone call back saying they are entitled to keep my money. Client Connect Limited know, or ought to know that this is untrue because they have broken your rules.
I therefore consider that the caller has breached Section 2 of the Fraud Act 2006.
I would be grateful if you could carry out an investigation of my complaint as soon as possible.
I am also copying your local trading standards office and my Member of Parliament into this e-mail as I am concerned that other consumers may have lost money to what I now realise is a fraudulent enterprise.0 -
Update 14/3 .. Re. Unauthorisation money from my account 7/3 .Reported to my bank , MOJ , fraud line , have sent numerous emails and called lifestyle money several times. . Sent recorded letter yesterday of cancellation.still no refund form as promised to be posted first class Thursday... No email or written correspondence from them until today when I received leter stating per-contractual information & terms and conditions.... Which iwas addressed to my husband and myself ... I gave my husbands name when they first called me and did say he had a card but have not got a clue why his name is on this .. Maybe that could be the reason why they took £719.96 from my account. They have no information on me as I did not receive the booked call back.. DD THEY HAVE AUTHORITY TO DO THIS....... This company is a total farce . They should not be allowed to trade and con the public..... Has anyone been sent refund form and had their money back....0

They are a company that trades on the fringes of legality- at best ''over-selling'' at worse fraudulent-- they ''lie'' on many fronts and having worked there 6 months and ashemdly made some good money on occasions ripping off other people on cold calls by taking un-neccessary deposits I began to realise that when people ring in to a customer service number their calls remain unanswered-- verious people who work/own the company have shady pasts and I was indeed warned about reporting them upon my departure in order that I get my final paycheck.
AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS-- IT can be done free of charge by self, and the MOJ are appeased by them sacking a number of staff each week, but they need stopping !!0 -
