Lifestyle Claims

Hi all.

I have had a call this week from LIFESTYLE CLAIMS who trade, I believe, under CLIENT CONNECTION LTD.
The first question I asked was "Where did you get my number from?" they said that they purchased it (which I gather is perfectly legal). Anyway, she went on asking me how many credit cards, loans, mortgages etc I'd ever had and within minutes, without any specific details, she tells me that I could be entitled to £9,000 reimbursment!!! WOW, I thought, I'll have some of that, and she continues to blab on and then I say; "How much is this going to cost me?" She says £299 + VAT up front, but there's a loophole. Just pay on a credit card you'll be claiming on and you'll get it back. If there solicitors find no chance of reimbursement (which I thought was odd considering I'm obviously entitled to £9,000) I get my money back.If I get anything at all they take 30%. But then I'm alledgedly entitled to a mysterious 8% on top of the difference??
Anyway, I'm now 2 missed calls from them chasing my money into the day and am wandering a few things that one of you may be able to help with;
1) Can they actually do what they say they can do?
2) Has anyone ever had success with them?
3) What is the criteria to claim (i.e how far back can I go, what can I claim on (mortgages, credit cards etc..., be aware I NEVER ask for PPI)
4) I see on some of the threads that I may be able to do this myself by sending letters to relevent companies. Is this true and what do I need to put in them to get a reply?

Or they are just trawling the phone book which is more common.
without any specific details, she tells me that I could be entitled to £9,000 reimbursment!!

Its funny how unqualified sales people on the phone can make that judgement in just seconds without knowing any of the facts.

    That is actually potentially fraudulent.
    1) Can they actually do what they say they can do?

What you have described sounds like unenforceable credit and the answer to that is no.
    2) Has anyone ever had success with them?

almost certainly not. Whilst figure in general are unknown the general feeling about success rates are that you have less than 5% chance of success.
) What is the criteria to claim (i.e how far back can I go, what can I claim on (mortgages, credit cards etc..., be aware I NEVER ask for PPI)

The criteria depends on the type of PPI, how it was set up and sold and why you think it was mis-sold. It is not wrong to have PPI. The problems only relate to those that are mis-sold.
    4) I see on some of the threads that I may be able to do this myself by sending letters to relevent companies. Is this true and what do I need to put in them to get a reply?

The complaints process is free of charge to use. You dont need a liar company to do it for you.

btw, getting you to pay a fee up front and enticing you with big payment figures which are unlikely to occur is known as advance fee fraud.

Also, PPI and unenforceable credit are two different issues. Plus, it against the rules for claims companies to cold call when there is the chance of legal action. The vast majority of claims companies do not use solicitors or even people with legal training. Most are opportunistic scumbags who are preying on unsuspecting members of the public. Advance fee fraud is one of the most common scams going.

Do it yourself if you have a complaint.

It is unclear what they are actually saying they can do 'reimbursment' is a rather general term.
If they are trying to claim that your debts are uneforceable on grounds of things like invalid ccas then no they can't, there was some minor success with this at first but now several judges have ruled against it so it has trailed off.
If they are trying to claim for ppi then yes they can do this - but you could just as easily (and are you saying you don't have this on any of the accounts anyway?). You could claim any charges you might have incurred on the credit cards, but again can do yourself fairly easily.

Look here for reasons for mis sell and how to claim if any of the reasons apply to you.

The charge for this is 0% and no upfront fee, although it will cost you a walk to the post office and the cost to send the letters recorded delivery:rotfl:;)

I suggest you look up advance fee fraud.

However, a summary of advance fee fraud is where they dangle a large payout figure in front of you often by saying you can get the money by using a loophole or little known rule/law but you first have to pay them a smaller amount up front to get it.

  • Yes, if it's too good to be true it usually is!! Thank you, I have checked on ministry of justice website and they are an authorised company, however it doesn't mean they are recommended.

You could get authorised by the MoJ within a week or two. It requires no qualifications, no experience and no knowledge.

Rules of thumb are that you should never pay anything up front and beware of claims companies making claims of large made up amounts to entice you.

When I was a student (far more years ago than I care to remember) there was a piece of graffiti above the loo roll in the Student Union that said "Sociology Degrees - please take one".

I think now it could say "Authorisation as an Ambulance Chaser please take one". It would, if anything, be even more appropriate considering what the paper's true purpose is.

My favourite graffito was "Don't beam me up now Scotty I'm still having a sh..."
  • Just had a call off these, they hung up on me when I interrupted and claimed to be a trained accountant :j
  • Hi,

I had a call from these guys today. They wanted £299.00 upfront. I refused to give them my credit card number.
